new windows & doors in 2010

We are looking to purchase 5 new windows, 2 doors and 10 glass block windows in 2010 and qualify for the tax credit. Any suggestions on companies we should look at? We are only looking to meet the tax credit requirements.

Re: new windows & doors in 2010

  • We are looking into some new windows as well. How much do you have to get for the tax credit and how much is the credit? We have a lot of windows in our small home and i think it would help.
  • There is no tax credit in 2010.  The credit ends 12/31/09.

  • The tax credit was extended through April 2010. I don't know requirements but we were just talking about this at Christmas with my uncle who sells windows and doors etc.. and he told us it was extended to April 15th (tax day) 2010.

This is correct the last I heard.  We are getting a new HVAC system before April.

  • I thought the tax credit was always though 2010. If it is April we need to jump on it b/c they need to actaully be installed to get the credit.  The tax credit is 30% of product not labor up to $1500.

We want windows that quality for the credit but we are not looking for top of the line anything. We live in a modest starter home and don't want to put too much money in it but still need to replace are 85 yr old windows with something more attractive and a lot more efficient.

  • Smpolly is correct.  It is only 30% of product.   When looking make sure that the product is Energy Star rated.  Not all new products qualify.  We got new windows at a company called Norandex in West Chester area.  They are a wholesale company and can recommend installers.  It was way cheaper than the other window companies.
