This might be bitchy but..

WHY does DH's family all insist on buying me an abundance of christmas decorations every year. Seriously.. how many christmas dishtowels do I need? And I can only put up so many santa/tree/angel figurines..Thats pretty much all his aunts ever send us for christmas.. and his mom usually gets us some stuff like that too.. Like this year she got me a Snowman tealight holder. How practical.

I would so much rather just get ornaments. I didn't get ONE baby's first christmas ornament from that side of the family. boo.

Re: This might be bitchy but..

  • I understand what you mean.  I get that sort of stuff from my mom.  I had to tell her I didn't have the room to store anymore stuff.  She decided to start a collection of christmas decorations for me and I had to tell her to stop because I had no room (plus I hated them, thought they were ugly).  I didn't tell her that though, just went with the no room to store things that only come out a few months out of the year.
  • I understand completely.  I know it is the thought that counts, but my MIL gives us so much junk.  She has completely different taste than I do (she loves gaudy) and always buys us stuff she likes.  We even tried this year to tell her specific things (I sent direct links) but no such luck.  I suggested gift cards to Lerner or Old Navy because I need some new clothes, but no she got it for Bed Bath and Beyond (which I do love and will use happily) but she just won't listen to suggestions.  I spent the day returning things to stores I thought things were from.

  • my mom does that too.  I don't need any more decorations.  We have a lot and I don't use 1/2 of it.
  • no, i hear you.. i dont want another ugly dish towel, or a candle, lotion, or ugly decoration.
  • I guess I shouldn't complain about the 100's of dollars worth of Olive Garden gift cards DH's family got us! We seriously have almost $200 for there! Every year we get them... I think we just finished up the ones we got last year!
