What to do? RE: glider

MIL gave me our glider and ottoman for Christmas. I picked out one from Walmart with a natural cushion and espresso wood, since our furniture is chocolate/espresso. I sent her the direct link to do ship to store for free. Somehow she ordered the same one, but in cherry finish. It's in my truck ready to be taken back, but DH and my mom think it's best to just keep it. Plus, I really don't want to bring it up to the ILs since it was incredibly generous. I can't exchange it without them knowing as the credit will go back on their card.

Should I keep it or approach the ILs about it to exchange?

The finishes are different colors, but in the links you provided they don't seem to be dramatically different, especially since the glider and ottoman are covered with a lot of cushion. Is the cherry finish more red or is it a darker cherry? If it's a darker cherry, I may not worry about it. On the other hand, maybe MIL accidentally ordered the cherry finish (since you sent her the direct link) and if you politely bring it to her attention, she'll take care of the exchange.

Are you sure it would show up on their card if you do a straight exchange? I don't see why it would be offensive to get it in another finish. I'm sure they want you to fully enjoy the gift they got you.

They do look similar in the pics, but if there is a big difference in person I'd exchange it. I'm a freak about things in our house matching, etc., though. And like Cissy said - if it's just an exchange, I don't think it will show up on their credit card statement.

This was my thought as well. I would probably just keep the chair unless it was really clashing with the crib.

PS--I lurve your crib. A lot.

In the pics it doesn't look that much different. If they aren't too different, I would keep it. I like things matching, and I am bothered if they don't, so if they're far off I would have to exchange it. Could it just have been a mistake in the site-to-store, or was the order actually for the cherry?

I would just tell them exactly what you told us. That it was unbelievably generous of them to get the glider and while you love it your afraid that maybe Walmart sent them the wrong color (blame it on the store lol). I'm sure they will not have a problem at all with exchanging it for the right one and that way you won't offend them by doing it behind their back.

You have put a lot of time and research into planning your nursery. If the two are going to be next to each other and the difference is noticable, I would exchange it. I realyl don't think anyone's feelings would be hurt, plus would they even notice, for an exchange of the same item, you probably don't even need a receipt.

This. You shouldn't need to do any refunding and recharging. Same item, same price, different color. I've done this before and they just did a straight exchange.
