101 Things in 1,001 Days


Has/Is anyone doing this?  I started making a list of my own, and its HARD I'm finally at 90+, what's on your list or would be on your list if you were going to do one?

  • I've only heard a little bit about this, have never even contemplated making one up for myself.  It's supposed to be 101 new things you're going to do or experience, right? 

    Off the top of my head, I'd have to say learn to knit, learn to sew, and travel to at least two new countries.

  • Yea, I started my list as "new things" to do or experience, but that barely got me half way, so I also did ones that I'd like to improve on (eating better/cooking more and exercising were big ones for this).

  • I haven't heard of this, but sounds fun.  I would add surfing lessons, hanggliding, do a half marathon, do a triathlon, eat seafood, go to Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone NP's, try duck, learn Spanish.

    Your food-related ones have me drooling.  You must try duck, it's one of my favorite foods (though my favorites list is rather long :P).  We had an amazing honey lavendar roasted duck at Salts in Cambridge, but that's a bit of a splurge.  Duck prepared Chinese style is also excellent, as is Peking Duck.

    OK, I better stop before the slobber hits my keyboard....

  • I'm doing one! Actually, that's what a couple friends and me are doing for new year's. We've all been working on our lists and then they are coming over on new year's eve for dinner and to discuss our lists.
  • I have one! I made it on the plane on the way to our honeymoon last January because I was so excited that I was actually able to have a life and not do wedding planning anymore! haha These are a few of the things I have:

    - Travel to 4 countries we've never been to

    - Go kayaking or canoeing

    - Learn to knit or crochet and actually make something

    - Visit every New England state

    - Go whale watching

    - Learn to bake ten new things from scratch

    - Become an RD and get my master's degree

    - Go hiking in 5 new places

    - Learn to make 10 fish recipes my husband actually likes

    - Watch 10 movies made before I was born

    - Make 2 Operation Christmas Child boxes every year 

    - Watch 5 sunrises

    - Make 10 green changes to our home

    - Give 10 "just because" gifts to friends/family members

    - Donate blood 

    - Read 5 nutrition-related books and 10 non-nutrition-related books

    -  Establish a date night every week, even if it's just a nice dinner and movie in our apartment

     I think it's such an awesome thing because it's longer than a year (so if you don't get to something one summer you can plan for it the next) and it really helps you realize what makes you happy so can try to fit these things in around a hectic schedule. A lot of people post their lists on here:  http://www.dayzeroproject.com/about/  but I never did :)

  • Jackie, I agree... I love that its over a 2+ year period, it makes it much more manageable and you can add things (like traveling) that you may not have time for in the immediate future, but want to keep on your radar.

    Also, I love your "learn to make 10 fish recipes my husband actually likes"!  Is your H picky about seafood?

  • Yeah, I'm not that adventurous with food but would consider trying it (duck).  I have tried seafood, and didn't like it.  I want to because of the health benefits, and it's common food on our vacation trips.  I think if I try it again and different kinds, I may adapt to it.

    haha yea he's pretty picky about eating fish and most of the recipes he likes have to be really spicy. I like spicy food too but I'm trying to find some fish recipes he'll eat that don't involve cayenne pepper! Or at least some new spicy ones since I'm sick of the ones I always make :)

  • Great idea, but as a lady on my Anniversary board stated, "Goal #1, think of 100 more goals."  I'm SO not creative when it comes to this stuff, so I think for at least the next year, I'll focus on my food blog *shamless plug - link in siggy*
