Remember all of our Gender Party talk...

Well sometime over vacation DH and I were discussing kids in the future. As I mentioned before, I do not want to know the sex of the baby and DH does. Dh cannot keep a secret for the life of him so there is no him finding out and not telling me. Plus he stands firm if we have a girl first he will be forever devistated and would never be able to hide his disappointment...w/e (he says that now, but I know when he's a daddy that'll all change).

Anyway, I was telling him about us talking about the gender party and about the cake gone wrong post that was linked here (and how I would have murdered the baker). He stops me and goes... I LOVE THAT IDEA!! lol. When we decide to have kids, he wants to have a baby shower/gender party. That way we wait until 7ish months to find out and it's a compromise for us both. Plus, all the gifts will be bought before the sex is revealed so no overload of pink or blue (like Missdani).

So that's the plan, now just to have the babies!! Still no plans to TTC for over a year, but we still talk about it all the time.

  • Bahahahaha . . . I have a suspicion he just like cake. ;)

    Kidding!

  • That is a great idea!  I have to admit, all my life I never wanted to know the sex of the baby but when the tech at the NT scan said that she could tell, I have no idea what came over me, I was like "YES, WE WANT TO KNOW!!!" DH looked at me like I had lost my mind, we had literally fought over it Smile

LOL...I think this is a big part of it!! He already knows where we're getting the cake from haha. I mean it is the local baker that his family knows and that did our wedding cake, but still...that's a little soon.
  • I always said I didn't want to know the sex until the baby is born, but I have a feeling I may change my mind. I will try and hold out as long as possible though. I'm not into the whole gender party thing though.
  • I realllllllly want to do the gender party, but DH is SOOO not going for it. He really wants to find out the sex and I really want it to be a surprise!

Seriously how many true surprises in your life do you really get!

  • I don't know if I want to find out, but if we do, I want to hold out on telling until after we have our shower so I don't get things that are gender specific.  I want to be able to reuse things!
My favorite story about the revealing is my co-worker had a baby in July- they had an amnio done, so they would have known for sure, but wanted to be surprised.  When people would ask her husband what they were having he would get all exasperated and say "A Baby!"  I might have been tempted to say "A puppy".  Smile
And people are so funny about finding out- it's not like there are tons of choices- there are only 2 options!
