I hope everyone had a great holiday and made it to and from your destination safely!
Sorry in advance if it's TMI....
Long story short, DH and I have been working on starting a family.
I've been off birth control since October. While on birth control I was always regular. I'm now currently going on a month without AF coming for a visit. I've taken 4 pregnancy tests and all come up negative. I have zero symptoms and have researched online about other people who have had this happen. Should I call my doctor and get a blood test done or just wait it out?
The main reason I ask (and I know it may come off as childish) is because I have a work trip to Vegas coming up and I don't want everyone asking why I'm not drinking. Sounds ridiculous I know, but you don't know the people I work with and I don't want them to know if I am pregnant just yet.
Re: Advice Please...
This is pretty normal after coming off of BC. Lots of people start up right away and have normal cycles. Some have them hit or miss and some will go months while their bodies try to get back to normal.
When you saying gone on a month without AF, you mean you are an entire month late? or you are at the point where she is getting to be late?
When is the Vegas trip?
This.
If you're a month late and are getting negative tests, I would take that as a true negative. That would put you at around 8 weeks, and a pregnancy test should definitely pick up a pregnany by then. It can take a while for your body to adjust to the new hormone levels.
It's not TMI, have you seen the poop thread from a couple days ago? (Which, by the way, I'm kicking myself for missing!)
It sounds like you just haven't ovulated yet, which is why you haven't gotten your period. And this is totally normal for the first year coming off of birth control, because your body is still regulating itself.
If you're getting antsy, you can start charting your cycles to verify when you've ovulated (www.fertilityfriend.com). Or you can just wait it out. If AF doesn't come after 3 months, call your doctor and they can prescribe hormones to jumpstart it for you.
I agree with Twink and Karrey - but I would say as long as you're getting negative pregnancy tests, you're good to drink in Vegas. A lot of people drink while TTC, even after they've ovulated. (I did).
Usually if you go 60 days without AF coming, its time to call the OB.
Thanks Ladies...You've really calmed my nerves and I completely understand what you are saying.
Karrey - Yes, I'm one month late. And I'm heading to Vegas next Friday...all expenses paid trip thanks to work!
