Fireworks!?

Ok, so I have never let off fireworks on NYE or been to a party where they were let off. Our friend said he was bringing them for our NYE party which is sweet, but I was wondering

Have you been to NYE parties with fireworks? Is this common and I somehow missed it or is it a regional thing?

Re: Fireworks!?

  • It was huge when I lived in the Netherlands and there were my numerous times that my dumb teenage self almost blew my hand up.

Here there's some fireworks b/c we're close to the Wisconsin border where you can buy them.  Its not as big as July 4th though.

  • It is quite possiby regional.  Here, it is really popular.  The guys house we go to spends upwards of 20K on his fireworks display for NYE every year.  They are illegal in some places which may be the reason that you haven't heard of it.

If you decide to do them at your house, make sure you are in an area that they are legal to let off otherwise you can be fined for it.

  • Funny... Illegal in PA however, there are usually fireworks stores right on the border... PA/NJ and PA/DE.  Supposedly, they check ID's to make sure you aren't going to be from PA to purchase?! Sounds crazy.  But the stores are IN PA!...

We did have a neighbor do it in the streets and they set their house on fire, so be VERY careful!!!

  • Thanks for the heads up. We are legal =D -- we set them off for the 4th of July. I don't remember many fireworks last NYE here, so I don't know if the SC people get into it. I know about 15 houses in our neighborhood let them off on the 4th.

Where DH and I grew up (near Pittsburgh, PA), I never saw them. They are legal there too, so I don't know. Maybe it's regional bc of the weather...

  • No, I've never been to a NYE party/event where fireworks were set off.

When we spent NYE in Houston a couple years ago DH told me that people like to go out into the streets and fire their guns into the air, but luckily we did not witness that.

    That's terrifying!

Nope, I've never heard of fireworks here for NYE (or in NYC either when I lived there).

That random gun firing stuff was rampet out here until years ago when a stray bullet killed a little girl playing in her back yard. There are super tight laws out here now about firing your gun into the air.

Also fireworks are illeagle out here due to the whole city possibly going up in flames cause its so dang dry :(

    I really heart fireworks to

  • Yup, they are illegal here in PA, but almost every year we go to a party where they have them. People usually stock up if they vacation down south.
