Did everyone have a good Christmas?

DH and I hosted our first Christmas (although hosting Easter and Thanksgiving were trial runs for us) for 14 people. It was busy and stressful, but everyone seemed to have a good time, which is the most important thing.

I hope Santa was good to everyone!

Re: Did everyone have a good Christmas?

  • wow 14 people! Nice work.

we had a great Christmas...even though it was pretty different. We didn't go home to either of our families this year and stayed in TO. It was really nice. we caught up with different people every night and had some great visits.  we don't go back to work until the 4th so looking forward to more vacation!

  • Glad to hear Christmas was a success!! We hosted too, but only had 8 adults and two kids :) Only reason why we hosted was so that we didn't have to travel anywhere! Next year we won't have that luxury though.

Now...I have to get through the afternoon and all day tomorrow of work and I'm off until the 4th!

  • We also had a great Christmas. We both got really spoiled and had a great meal with my parents.

     14 people, that's amazing!!!!

  • We got spoild as usual but I am going to be glad of a few days off.  It's been a busy few days and Scarlett has had enough.  She has been great but tonight at the 4th party in 5 days she flaked out huge and we had to leave.  DH the IL's and I took her home and greatfully curled up in front of a move

  • A few years ago we have 17 people over...never again. I needed a large drink and nap afterwards.

This year we stayed home and it was so relaxing!

  • Good job on the 14 people! I totally get the stress part.

We had 8 adults and 4 kids (all under the age of 3). There was multiple bottles of wine shared between myself and my FI. Wow craziness!

I need to rant a little. When someone (myself) is cooking dinner for guests, should they not just appreciate the work and enjoy themselves? My mom kept saying I'm working too hard. I haven't left the kitchen. I need to sit down and relax. Um, mom, do you want to eat dinner?? Ugh! My sisters were after me about it not being done when they wanted it and their kids were getting hungry. Perhaps give the kids a snack?? So frustrating. It's like they all forgot how long it takes to cook a decent meal, let alone for 12 people.

I love my family. Sometimes they just really grate on my nerves.
