When do you take down Christmas decor?

I'm starting to feel like my Christamas decor is cluttering up the house, and I think I'm going to take it all down right now. I'll probably leave the tree up for a little while though.

When do you usually take your stuff down?

Re: When do you take down Christmas decor?

  • If we'd been home, I probably would have taken it down this weekend.  But since we were away, I will probably do it this weekend, since we don't have room to store it at our place.

  • I thought about it Sunday night, but decided to leave it for a few more days.  It'll come down this weekend for sure.  I try to have it all down by New Years weekend.

  • I would normally take it down this weekend but we are going to a wedding on Saturday in L.A. and I don't want to do too much this weekend so I am thinking I will take it down the week of the 4th.

  • I ALWAYS put it up the day after Thanksgiving and take it all down on New Years day.
  • We normally take ours down the weekend after new years. But this year we took it down early (the sunday after christmas) because of all the clutter. I mean between the tree and all the toys Jaiden got we had no more room left to walk so we took it down.

  • I usually leave it up at a week into January.  This year will probably be about the same.  I'd leave it up a couple months if I could get away with it.  Smile
  • Bree!  I love your awkward pic!  That is so awesome!

  • Aww thanks nicole!  I can't even put into words the joy I feel seeing that picture! I was tempted to print a 5x7 and put it in a really nice frame to give them for xmas but my DH talked me out of it.  I still think it would've been funny...
  • I think traditionally, decorations can stay up until January 5th. We put away gifts last night since we just got back Sunday and I'll try to make a dent in taking down the decorations tonight. They'll definitely be down by this weekend though.

  • Usually I wait until after New Years, but the way our living room is the tree just made it feel so small. Plus we had to re-arrange the new couch and as you saw in my previous post my cat has been scratching it like crazy. So I took the tree down yesterday but still have all the wall decor up.
