How do you tell a control freak to go away?

My lovely CW is on vacation for a week- YAY! I am technically her "back-up" but so far there hasn't been a whole heck of a lot to do as far as back-up work goes.  It has been sooooo peaceful and quiet in here, I'm loving it!

SO- CW just called to ask how I was doing and if I needed help because I must be overwhelmed... and I told her I was bored- that there wasn't a whole lot to do other than my regular duties.

She gets all defensive and now insists there must be so much to do and that she has to come in tomorrow to make sure things are running smoothly.

Seriously?! I just told you things are quiet and I'm just working on a project, and she starts stirring crap up insisting that she come in... what is wrong with people like that?! Seriously- its VACATION- you don't need to come to work, the world won't end if you're not here! And I'm guessing that is what she's afraid of- if it looks too easy, she's expendable in her mind.

Last time she went on vacation she told my boss I was constantly contacting her and that she didn't think I could handle it- I told my boss I called her 2x in 3 weeks because some MAJOR unauthorized changes came down from the programmer and I wanted to make her aware of them and make sure she hadn't authorized them in advance.  But to her I was "constantly" calling her- so she couldn't leave without constantly checking in *sigh*

Ok, vent over, thanks for listening!

  • Seriously! sorry for the long rant, I was just super-annoyed when she called to "check on me", lol... I was enjoying my peaceful day without her :)  The joys of the "job" right?! I need to find a new career, lol!

  • Oh good grief. She sounds like a total P.I.T.A. I feel for ya. I don't think there is anything you can do, except ignore her the best you can. She is stupid and needs to just chill out.
