recipe help

Ok ladies I need some recipes! My ILs sent us the most random gift for Christmas, a huge box of a variety of meats. Thats right, meats...chicken, steak, hotdogs, pork chops, etc. I thought it was random but DH LOVED it haha. Anyway, I am looking for a good pork chop recipe. DH and I are not huge pork chop fans to begin with so I would like to make something other than the traditional baked ones. Any ideas? TIA

Re: recipe help

  • I sometimes make them with an apple chutney - I'd have to look up the recipie when I got home but its apples, onions and port wine.  I get rave reviews when I make it.  I also like to stuff them with a sage dressing (stove top with extra herbs and I usually add raisins, cranberries or some other dried fruit to spice it up a little).  The stuffed pork chops are my hubby's favorite dish!
  • Pork is tricky.  My DH loves his mom's classic pan-fried recipe with some mashed potatoes and veggies:

Pulverize saltine crackers in a blender, dredge the the chops in egg, "bread" them with the cracker crumbs and pan fry them.

I haven't tried these yet, but this recipe is on my "to do list" from allrecipes.com: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Sour-Cream-Pork-Chops/Detail.aspx

    Hope that helps!

  • Really Simple and easy:

Brown porkchops on each side on stove, remove and preheat oven to 350. Put porkchops into baking dish, cover with 1 can of Golden Mushroom Soup (thinned with some water, the more water the more gravy left over). Bake for about 30-45 minutes or until cooked through. Serve over rice.

I make this all the time, and its about the only way we eat chops around here.

  • You can buy several different flavors of marinades at any grocery store.  The good pork ones come in packets and you mix them with vinegar.  They will say on the packet what kind of meat it's reccommended for.  Just mix it in the morning in a large zip lock bag, let the pork sit in it while you're at work, then fry them in a skillet or put them on the grill.
  • We just had a new pork chop recipe last night.  DH found it in our "Fix it and Forget it" book so he decided to be all domestic while I was at work yesterday.  Recipe: put 4 pork chops in the crock pot and pour a 16 oz bottle of Italian dressing over the pork chops.  Set on high for 4 hours until pork chops are tender.  I'm not a big Italian dressing fan, but I thought they were okay.
  • We usually marinate pork chops over night and grill them.

  • I got a "cubano" recipe from Eating Well that was pretty good.  Cut the chops in half (boneless) but leave the edge attached still so it has a hinge on one side.  Put it between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and pound to 1/4" thick.  Place slices of swiss cheese and pickle planks on one half and fold the other half back over.  Season with salt and pepper and cook in a fry pan with olive oil until cooked through.  (flip once obviously)  Serve on good sandwich rolls with dijon mayo and some good lettuce.
