I am in the middle of a dispute over my carpeting and was wondering... how often does the average person vacuum their carpet?

Once a week. I work next to a carpet store and the owner, whom we've purchased carpet from says once a week is good and the more you vacuum the longer your carpet will last.

we don't have kids or pets, so i just do it twice a month or so... or if it looks dirty.

I usually do my cleaning on the weekend and depending on the month I may or may not get to some things....vacuuming is one of those things. I like to get to it at least once a month, but sometimes I have more time so I vacuum more. With our tree though I've been vacuuming up a freaking storm to get all those little pine needles up off the floor lol

I have a Brando. Which is why I have a Roomba. It vacuums every day (when i remember to set the damn thing), and I can still barely keep up.

Thankfully, I have wood floors throughout the main areas of the house, and randomly tend to just dry swiffer daily. If not, i get tumbleweeds of fur fairly quickly. He's worth it. haha. The office and guest bedroom, probably get vacuumed once a month because they doors are usually closed and those rooms aren't used that much.

My room, living and kitchen. Different story. I have to de-fur regularly.

I make sure to vacuum at least once a week and spot vacuum the dog hairballs that form on our hardwood areas when needed! I tend to let other things, like dusting, go longer than I do vacuuming.

I have tile floors throughout the house, and carpet in the rooms. And it's white, most cases we vacuum once a week...but Eric doesn't like seeing my long strands of black hair or walking with his bare feet...he always comes across my hair. (It annoys him!) and I dry swifter everyday....also with my cleaniness in--laws staying over these past 2 weeks...my house has to super clean for them.

Thanks ladies. This is very helpful. The Carpet Inspector (yes, that's a real profession) made me feel like a dirtbag when I said we vacuumed once a week. I KNEW that it was average to go once a week or every other. Sadly I may have to file a complaint with the BBB over our carpeting. I hate complaining but we paid thousands for carpeting that looks like hell after one year! Ugh. Thanks for your help.

I really need to vacuum once a day, because I have three dogs and a cat, but twice a week is about all the attention I can spare.

I try to vacuum twice a week. Our carpet is that gross apartment carpet and everything shows. Art HATES to hear the vacuum cleaner so I dont do it as much as I would like.
