OH NO!

I lent my old camera to a neighbor for the holidays and she broke it!

She's offered to buy it from me or fix it for me.  What would you do?  It's a Nikon D40x

Re: OH NO!

  • How badly is is broken? I guess I'd weigh the cost of a new one v/s the cost to fix it. That really sucks that she broke it, but at least she's offering to fix it.
  • how often do you really use it?  if not often, i'd say the cash would be the way to go.

This. I wasn't paying attention to the "old camera" part of your OP. You could get some new accessories to go with the camera the you use now.

  • I'd prob sell it to her and get some new stuff for your new camera!

That's what I was thinking... Hmmmm... It's ultimately up to me, but I just don't know.

  • I'd definitely sell it to her.  If she "fixed" it, I'd be scared that it would break again.  This way, you can just sell it to her and get a new lens/accessory for your camera.  How in the world did she break it?
  • She tripped over her dog and dropped it.  It still works, but the back LCD screen cover is cracked.  So it's not completely destroyed.
  • agreed...sell it to her if she's willing to buy (if not, take the camera back and let her give you some money, then decide whether or not to put the money into the old camera or something else)

I figured she must have dropped it somehow because those cameras are pretty indestructible!  Good luck with your decision.
