Thank you note for an interview?
I had a very good interview today for a job that I really, really want. Considering I've been out of the loop for three years on the job market, would you rather get an email thank you (personalized of course) or would you want an actual card?
Some of my thoughts:
Con for a card - I have the handwriting of a serial killer (Steel Magnolias)
Pro for a card - sort of an artsy-ish position and could leave a better impression if they were cool
Pro for an email - immediately sent and recieved with the new years
Con for an email - could be seen as not going the extra mile
Thoughts?
Re: Thank you note for an interview?
I prefer the idea of an actual card - to me, that just shows you went the extra mile and really put forth an effort to demonstrate your interest in the job. Of course, I also tend to be a bit old-fashioned and prefer not to send out e-cards in place of real cards, so I am biased!
In any event, good luck on the outcome of the interview - fingers crossed for you!
... every single day of forever.
I usually send out typed thank you letters.
I'll go the both route. They're making a decision by middle of next week and if I email now they'll get that before the holiday, then the card will hit around the time they're making a decision.
Even if the hiring manager told me I was his favorite, you still never know.
