What's your health/fitness goal for 2010?

I checked in on SparkPeople today and everything!

My goal is to lose 15 lbs.  I haven't really set a time limit on it... I just want to get there.  My clothes haven't been fitting very well lately (if at all) and a trip to the outlet mall to buy new clothes was just depressing.  So eating healthy and exercising starts today!  DH and I are going to the gym tonight after I get home from work and we're going to work harder at eating healthy meals again.  I would also like to set a goal of walking the dogs more and maybe (gasp) even getting into running.  I'm so jealous of everyone who runs or rides bikes.  I've never enjoyed exercising (unless you count ballet, which I'll be taking twice a week starting in late January) but I really want to.  I feel like i owe it to myself to get healthier before we start TTC.

  • My goals are pretty much in line with what you have said. I would love to lose about 10-15 pounds and eat healthier. I'm with you, I've never really enjoyed exercising too much, but would like to get into it enough to enjoy the benefits of it - less stress, more energy, etc - and maybe that would make me like it better. And as you also mentioned, I would like to be in better shape and healthier before I actually get PG.
  • I've only got about 5 pounds to lose, but the way I need to lose it is by a lot of cardio and redeveloping muscle mass. I've only gained 5 pounds, but I lost a lot of muscle and gained a lot of fat (all in the tummy) and now even my "fat" pants don't fit. I'm really uncomfortable at work in my work clothes. So we're going to cook more and I'm going to get back doing cardio 3 times a week. Also, once the days get longer, I definitely want to start walking the dog more often. He deserves it.

    We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • Over the last year DH and I have really gotten better about eating good foods.  This year I really really want to get to a point where I workout (minimum 20 minutes) at least three times a week.  I've gone through phases and just never stuck with it.  I hate working out, though.  We will be installing a home gym, so I'm really hoping availability helps.  I hate public/ shared gyms, and dragging everything out to the living room is a PITA.
  • Ideally run a total of roughly 20 miles a week but sometimes it's just not feasible.  More reaslitically 14 miles a week.
  • Look better naked.

    It can't be a coincidence that "I Like Big Butts" came on my stereo right as I got out of the shower yesterday.  So, I'll be working on toning and losing weight by actually working out in addition to eating pretty well (which I'm pretty good at now).

  • Ideally, I would like to drop 20 pounds by july. I've already started eating better, but that went to poo over the holidays. I got a wii fit plus for Christmas, and with dh's new morning schedule I will hopefully commit to a realistic workout routine soon.

    That reminds me that DH brought home the Wii Fit from his school for the holidays!  I need to get my butt on that thing!

  • I want to lose 15 lbs. in 3 months. I need to exercise and diet.
  • i still want to lose another 5-10 lbs to get me back to my college weight.

    hubby and i have plans to start running together now that he'll finish school in january. i want to be able to run a full 5k (i did one this year but jogged/walked). and we'd also like to do a 10k in 2010.

  • I am going to be posting weight loss check ins on the baby board, if anyone is interested. I meant to start in December, but with the holidays, it all pretty much went to poo. Sad

    There are a lot of nesties who expressed an interest in on-going weight loss/fitness check ins, so we're going to start posting those on Fridays, beginning this week on New Year's Day. 

    For 2010, I want to:

    • breastfeed all year (I count that as a health goal since it's healthy for my baby, it requires me to eat good, and I burn extra calories while nursing Stick out tongue
    • ideally lose about 50 pounds (I was overweight when I got pregnant)
    • get back into the habit of walking/jogging several times a week + lifting weights, doing yoga again
    • run a 5K sometime this year.
    Unfortunately, the exercise is on hold until I can get some new tennis shoes that fit my newly wide feet. Apparently I am doomed to have longer, wider feet after each pregnancy. Crying I can fit into my current tennis shoes, but they aren't comfortable enough for long walks or for running.
  • I definitely want to lose the baby weight.  I've been very fortunate that I have only gained 26 pounds so far, I credit my husband's good eating habits for helping through this whole pregnancy.  I'm counting down the days until I get my release from the doctor to start running again.  I'm also hoping to find another pilates place in Cedar Park, the place I used to go to closed and I loved it!

    check out the EA active game - it's pretty cool and I actually broke a sweat, as opposed to the wii fit where I did not.  :/  you have the option of using the balance board, too, but it's not necessary.  I really liked the 30 day challenge, it motivated me to workout.

    Awesome!!!! This just convinced DH to go out tomorrow and get me the EA wii active tomorrow!  whoot.
