This story sums up pretty well why DH's older bro has a serious complex when it comes to his purpose in their family. MIL is a peach, love her, but she fails to truly appreciate just how neurotic BIL can be, and that she tells this story over and over must just kill him. lol
DH is the youngest of 3 kids. Oldest is a girl, whose name was picked out after she was born (she ended up being named after 2 female relatives). BIL is the middle child. For her entire pregnancy, she knew she was going to name her son 'Dallas Anthony'. Then BIL came into the world and, as MIL tells it in her blunt way, 'I took one look at him and knew he wasn't my Dallas, so I named him Todd". lmao
She was so determined to use the name Dallas Anthony, that she had another baby 18 months later! Ha!
Re: F/U to baby names...a cute story
Yeh, it's a bit of a sore spot for sure. Poor guy.
That's too funny...
They people wonder why there is a Middle-Child syndrome! My DH is also a middle child and his dad was so SURE that they were having a girl that once the Dr. announced it was a boy his dad took the baby, removed the diaper and needed to see for himself that it wasn't a girl...and then cried!!!
Then they had DH's little sister a few years later...so as DH puts it "I feel very loved"
.
And this is why I refuse to commit to a name - what if we meet the baby and it isn't the name we've chosen??? I need a good list of backups!
Poor Todd though... I wonder what it was about him that made your MIL sure the name wasn't a fit.... Could you see your BIL as a Dallas?
He is so NOT a Dallas! lol
