I think I might be "touched"

I'm honestly considering asking my parents to move closer to us, so they can watch Cletus. I would pay them rather than a nanny or a day care center. The cost of living in the surrouding areas are SO cheap. I could pay them what I plan on paying a center or nanny.

What do you think? Am I "touched" or is it a remotely good idea?

  • I think it's a great idea.  The real question is, will they think it's a great idea?

  • What does "touched" mean?

Don't "they" say that having a relative keep the kid causes more conflict because you are less likely to force your wants and the relative is less likely to follow?

  • It works for my SIL. My in-laws watch the kiddos, and my SIL pays her. I think there is something to be said for grandparents watching babies. When my parents worked full-time, and we were living near my g-parents, we stayed with them before and after school. I loved it. That's my $0.02

  • I think it's a rockin' idea! Of course, if I were ever to have a child, we all know I would give it directly to my mother (who is killing me with her "I want to be a nanna" whining). But we also know that I'm definitely "touched."

My child's Nana lives 2 hours away.  We could use a local one.  I'm just saying!!!

  • My mom watched my nieces and nephew until they went to school and I think it was great.

  • 'touched' with the crazy? Sorry, I was just imagining having either set of parents that close. I guess it depends on the relationship. No one will take better care of the baby than its own Nana!
