Claiming Stat pay on EI

How does this work?  D's work is on shutdown over Christmas.  Since he had an open claim from earlier in the year, he can claim, but isn't sure how to claim stat holiday pay.  They gave him a number to call but he's been on hold for 20 minutes

Any ideas - I thought maybe the mat leave ladies would know.

Re: Claiming Stat pay on EI

  • Not sure how it works since when I was working any holiday just goes onto my pay cheque like normal (and would be part of my ROE). Being on mat leave we don't get any stat pay.
  • I just asked DH since his work is closed for two weeks over the holidays as well. His company sends everything into Service Canada, so he didn't have to deal with any of that, he just had to apply for EI so he can have an open claim for later in the year when they're closed again.

  • Thanks ladies.  After 40 minutes on hold and being disconnected at the 20 minute mark, D got through.  I thought I'd post the answer in case anyone is in a similar situation (I am as my work pays stat pay while I'm on leave).  It comes off dollar for dollar and he basically had to call the number to report it as "other income".  Why they wouldn't have "stat holiday pay" as an option is beyond me - especially when wait times are so long.
