Hi ladies,
So last night my husband and I spent 2 hours holding my dog while she acted all irratic and had a seizure. She has done this before and yes we have rushed her to the ER Animal hospital and they couldn't figure it out etc. We have switched vets etc. She hasn't had one since we switched, until last night. Of course she only has seizures when it is late at night and her vet is closed and we don't want to take her back to the ER. SOOOO we did some research online and the only thing we can come up with is that she has them after we clean with our floors with out wet swiffer mop. Then doing more research online, we found MANY pet owners who have had pets who experienced seizures after using their wet swiffer. A lot of pets have also experienced liver failure and some have even died. One guy lost his german shepherd and his 2 cats and filed a lawsuit. I do not know if it is indeed the swiffer wet mop, but we are no longer going to use it and just mop with vinegar and water and see if that helps. I know a lot of you have cats and dogs and I just wanted to put this out there!
Thanks,

Re: My dog is having seizures....Swiffer mop???
My Blog!
How strange!!! Really?
Thanks for the tidbit of info! Definitely post on the Pets board!
Don't! Instead, go to Etsy, search "swiffer cover", buy one you like. Use that with your vinegar/water mixture...then reuse it over and over again.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. We had the sweetest black lab at home growing up, and as she got older she would have seizures as well. They were mostly central to her head and never lasted as long as an hour, but it was so terribly sad to see, our vets said it was most likely a brain problem, and at her age would be too hard to operate on. She lived happily for a long time with them though. We all miss her so much though, but I hope the mopping does the trick, its so hard to see!
As a side note- would you mind posting any links you have to this info, my MILs chihuahua has what she says are seizures and I'd like to point this out to her, I'm not sure if she uses a swiffer or not, but I know we do. Luckily (or rather unluckily as I feel most days) we are pet free here.
I'm sorry to hear about your doggie but the swiffer thing is not true. Check here: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/swiffer.asp
I also used a swiffer mop for over a year around 2 small dogs and nothing happened.
There are a few food items that cause seizures in dogs so make sure you're not giving them anything like chocolate, grapes, onions, or macadamia nuts. Also make sure you don't use mulch made with coco (there are some types made from it and dogs do eat it because it smells good).
