S/O baby names, do you think that babies look like a certain name?
My friend's parents said they had chosen the name Lauren the entire time they were PG with her, but when she came out, she looked like a Kelly... and so Kelly became her name.
B/c I couldn't decide on a name for Brooke, everyone told me to wait and hold her because once I held her, I would know her name. Of course, I didn't, and Vance pretty much named her.
Just curious what your thoughts are about a baby looking like a Mason or an Aiden, etc...
Re: MORE baby name Q's
That's so funny because when people forget my name they always call me Michelle. So I guess I look like a Michelle?
I don't know about babies looking like certain names but I guess I can see it with older kids and adults.
I think it may have something to do with your experience of a particular name. Say, if you went to school with a Marie and later came to meet a couple of more Maries and they all sorta shared the same facial features/look...then you think of a Marie as looking a certain way.
So, maybe the people who have decided their baby looked like a certain name are operating on a subconcious level based on the above reason?
I dunno...lol.
I have always had people mistakenly call me Lisa. Always! Which is a coincidence because my best friend (from the age of 9 until now) is called Lisa. It's not even a case of people mixing us up because 98% of the time, the people who call me Lisa don't even know I have a friend called Lisa.
In a way I'd say yes...like the pp's, I've gotten routinely called by another name from people who have just met me. Apparently I look more like a Jennifer than a Lisa. It's really odd!
In a baby name book that my mom had when I was a kid, there was a short section on names and personality or appearance traits that tend to be associated with those names (or at least, were at the time the book was published in the late 70s or early 80s). I remember that Lisa was something like, "blonde and bubbly" which may explain why few people associate it with a brunette with a morbid sense of humor lol.
Funny about the different names - I get Veronica (which ok...another V-name) but I also get Samantha (which really confuses me!)
As for changing your mind after seeing/holding your baby, my friend was on the fence about her baby's name, but she had finally decided on a name towards the very end of her pg (I don't remember what she had decided). Then her DD was born with blue eyes & dark hair so she decided the original name didn't fit & went with Jade instead.
My boss's sister named her DD Sarah while she was pg. DD is born, she sticks with Sarah. Birth certificate, hospital records - all say "Sarah". 3 days go by and she wants her name to be Grace! She had to do all kinds of paper work, but that was at least 10 years ago & her name is officially Grace.
I can see how older kids can look like a X vs what their real name is.
However, with Bella, she was Bella from the minute we found out "it" was a she. But when she came out, I said "hello ladybug, welcome to the world"... not sure where that came from but it's been her nickname ever since. Then when I was holding her I was calling her by her first and middle name when I was talking to her. I guess she's always looked like a Bella Kailani to me
I felt like she had a personality before she came out and it just fit. Maybe if we had been up in the air about 2 names it would've been different.
I dunno. My mom says that this is what happened with me and my twin brother. I was supposed to be named Meghan and he was supposed to be Gregory. She said when we came out we just looked like a Lori and Jarrod. Bizzare!
To be fair, she was on hospital bed rest for a month before we arrived (at 32 weeks) and she watch a lot of movies! I guess Jarrod was the name of a character in an old western movie she watched the day before we were born. LOL!

When Kai was born we had a list of names because we wanted to see what he looked like. We looked at him and then went through each name and he looked/felt like a Kai. It just felt like his name. I never knew a Kai either. lol Literally a feeling you get I think.
My sister and I have this game we play. We TOTALLY think that each name has a characteristic that all people with that name have. At least of all the people we know. Like all Amy's I know (myself included) are high maintainence. lol There are some names I would never name my child because of associations to that name too. Also in Kai's playgroup there are a few names that were on the original list for him to be named and I am SO glad I never named him those names. lol
