Melting Pot Question

So we're headed to Melting Pot for dinner tonight and it's a fixed menu. Its "surf & turf and more"- which includes lobster tails and filet mignon... will we be fondue-ing them? How the heck does that work? I know it's silly but I've never had an actual meal there, just cheese & chocolate with my fave nestie girls.

Re: Melting Pot Question

  • Yup you fondue them.  You'll get a broth fondue to cook your meats and veggies in.  You just stick the piece of meat or seafood on the fork and let it hang out in the broth until it's cooked.  Your server will advise you as to how long to leave the meat and seafood in so that it's cooked enough.  We just pulled ours out when we thought it had been in long enough, set it on our plate and broke it apart to check the middle and if it wasn't done enough, we'd just toss it back in.
  • Yeah, Sabrina explained it pretty well.. I don't know if its technically considered fondue still (maybe it is? I just don't think of it that way).. but you get a couple different kinds of broth/oil to cook things in  and also usually some like batters for stuff (like a tempura).. its kind of like a little mini deep fryer.

  • Just check your meats and seafood - the times that the server gave us were nowhere near enough time to cook.
