Stolen - How did you spend NYE 1999?

I went to Fort Lauderdale with my boyfriend (not DH).  His boss owned 2 condos on the beach and we stayed in one.

  • I was a wee lass of 14, so I probably did something lame-o with my parents.

  • um.......I was 19 so lets think.......oh a ginormous, highly illegal block party.  It was fantastic.
  • WOW.  This brings back memories.

Senior year of UCLA.  I was dating the "Love of My Life" for the third time.  I begged him to do something.  Begged.  We never went anywhere.  He was into raves and he told me that he knew about one that night, but was not into it.

So I wore...black hot pants and a totally sheer mesh sleeveless top with a band of thick glitter to strategically hide the boobage.  I had a vivid purple feather boa.  I did fun makeup and slicked my hair back into a bun.  I was READY to party.  (I was thin in those days.)

He arrived dressed up to go out (Not to a Rave), but sat around like a bump on a log.  He said: "Don't your friends have anything going on?"  My other friends were out of town for break.  So I dragged him downstairs in my building to the apartment I used to live in where the "Aarons" (two of them) now lived.

They were playing a wrestling game on Playstation.  FAIL

So I was all whored up with nowhere to go.  We ended up going to his place and stopping at 7-11 on the way for some Andre "not-champagne."  I think we crossed midnight in the car.

We never called each other again after that.

  • I was 15 and working as a banquet server in my cousin's restaurant. I worked a party of like 400 people. I think my cousin made a deal to have a table for the servers with tiaras, horns, and other party stuff. Of course we weren't allowed to eat/drink, but got to be part of the countdown. Still pretty lame!

    HOTT!!

I didn't even think about what I wore but I do remember.  I had black faux leather pants and a sparkly blue shirt that had no sleeves and a little string that tied in the back......WHAT was I thinking......then and now...sheesh.

  • Somewhere with M I'm sure of that, where though, I do not remember but I'm sure it involved under-age drinking.

  • I'm pretty sure I was at home with the ex.  I had a 6 year old, a 6 month old, and was pregnant.  Wooohooo.
  • I was 18 and went to the big city (San Francisco) to the official SFNYE party there was live music and dancing and everything, so fun!

  • With the Ex bf (whose mom emailed me today) We went and saw Billy Idol preform and then RAN 2 miles back to the aprty we were at to catch the count down!

Kirstin + running = No Bueno

Also I remember earlier that night I called my friends on the east coast to make sure they were all still alive, you  Y2K stuff ;) hahah

  • I honestly have NO idea. I was a sophomore in high school. I think I was drinking beer in someone's garage.
  • Oh and I also found pictures of me from that year. Sweet visor in the left one huh? And don't tell me you all don't have that EXACT same pose picture (on the right).

  • Xmas breakup with then-boyfriend led to a very lame NYE. I was out in a park with a friend, drinking gatorade or something like that (he's an alcoholic) and smoking like a chimney, watching the awesome fireworks display the city provided.

Meanwhile, ex-bf was at a cool party with soon-to-be-new-gf, and I know this as he told me he didn't know which one to take. I told him to take her.

  • I was 15, so I was at home with my parents and sisters.  If I were to consult my diary from that date, I'm sure it would say something about how lame my night was, and how my mom was trying to make us go to bed at 8:30.
  • Oh wow, memories. I was in Times Square with my then BF. He lived in NJ and wanted me to really get to experience a truely awesome east coast new years. I froze my butt off and got groped by a random drunken stranger. Then BF ended up getting some bad winter asthma and going to the hospital the next day. Ugh.
  • I was a senior in high school.  For every NYE in high school I'd go over to my BFF's house and spend it over there.  We didn't do anything crazy, just made appetizers, non-alcoholic drinks, and watched movies/listened to music.  My Mom basically forbade me to go that NYE because it was going to be the millennium or 2000 or something, and she guilt-tripped me (an only child) saying, we want you to be here with us for this big event blah blah blah.  I was pissed, not because I couldn't go to my friend's house, but because I KNEW my parents would go to sleep at 8 pm and I'd be up all alone for the new year.  My Mom insisted that wouldn't happen.  Guess what?  It did!  They went to sleep at 8 pm or something and I sat up watching the ball drop by myself.  It was so depressing!

That was hot stuff for 1999!  Work it, girl.

And I also remember watching Prince on TV and being very excited about it.  We all were waiting for that moment ever since he came out with that song.
