Best HE detergent recs please

Our new HE washer and dryer are being delivered on Monday (hopefully) and I was wondering what the "best" HE detergent is, or if you had any recommendations.

  • I've found they're more or less the same. We used to use Tide HE, but we found that Sunlight was cheaper so we switched and haven't noticed any difference. We've tried a couple other brands too with no noticeable difference.

I'm pretty sure you can used regular detergent too - you just use about 1/2 the recommended amount.
  • We use Tide HE with the green cap so there is no dye or fragrance in it for my LO.

  • I like the Ecos detergent sold at Costco.  It's not specifically HE, it just says to use half the recommended amounts if you have a HE washer.  So you should be fine with any detergent you currently like - just use less.
  • We've used the PC stuff quite a few times and have been quite happy with it. I like that you can get HE, cold water and free altogether, although I think Tide might as well.
  • PC makes one for baby clothes that is like a zillion times cheeper than Ivory Snow.   We just use that on all of our clothes.  We did like the PC Green on that came in the small bottle.  It was pretty good.

  • We are using an eco one right now (powder) but in the past we have really liked PC Green and Seventh Generation. Both worked really well.
  • Another vote for Ecos - works well, smells great, and a bottle lasts FOREVER (as long as you're only using the recommended amount!) Plus it's biodegradable, non-toxic, phosphate-free,100% natural and pH neutral- all thumbs-up by the husband and I.
