S/o car help... Payment vs. Extended maintainence

So we went and test drove the Volvo xc60 last night and LOVED it. However, even with their beat deal it's still more than we wanted to pay monthly. However, they're offering a great 5 year/60k mile warranty/maintainence/wear&tear deal right now. Is it worth paying a little more pet month with the 5 year stuff factored in?

  • I told you that car is pure Luv.  ;)  You can get it for less if you don't get the turbo and some other similar upgrade that I can't think of now, plus that will help on the fuel consumption.

Oil filters, batteries, etc are pretty pricey for Volvos.  My ILs own an auto shop and I had to have my battery replaced last week- it was still $120 their cost.  I say the 5/5/5 is worth it bc it covers all maint.

  • I bought a Volvo in 2006 and now DH is looking to buy one. We have never been happier with a car and their service. I love that they give you loaners while they work on your car. Three years later the car has stood up to a lot of wear and tear and is still solid and well made. No creaking, rubbing and other weird noises that other cars I've had make after a few years.

My dad owns car dealerships and even with the discounts that he is able to get I would still buy a Volvo.

The owner of the Volvo dealership in Georgetown (Rick, dealership owner and family friend) told me a story about him driving down the highway with his wife and twins in the backseat and a driver came across the median and hit them head on. They rolled 7-10 times and into a ditch. Their car was totaled but they walked away from it with only slight bruises. He even said their sons were in the back seat upside down becuase restraints and the air bags worked so well they didn't have anything wrong with them.

Knowing a car saved their life is more than worth it to me to pay a little more money.
