poll: fav. movie(s) of '09

Ok so I saw this on the entertainment board and thought I would see what everyone on here thought...What was your favorite movie of 2009?

We love movies and because we don't have cable, we watch a million (hello redbox!) so I can't narrow it down to one. My favs of 09 are: Fame, 17 Again, & the Proposal. I liked the Hangover but it wasn't my favorite it was DH's though.

Re: poll: fav. movie(s) of '09

  • I really liked the Hangover but I think my favorite movie of 2009 was either I Love You, Man, My Sister's Keeper or Harry Potter.

  • Okay - I doubt I'd watch it again because it's JUST. THAT. CREEPY.  But I thought Paranormal Activity was very, very well done.  I tend to like old school, psychological horror movies.  You know - the ones that are more along the lines of Twilight Zone than "The Hills Have Eyes."  Paranormal Activity has only one brief flash of blood, only one or two splashy effects, and a whole lot of mindf**k... excuse the term.  My DH (two fully grown people) slept with the lights on the night we saw it.

As term as plot, the movie isn't great.  But I'll tell ya - no other movie this year matched the intense affect on us that this did.

  • The Hangover was pretty funny...and we just watched UP and that was cute

  • My favorites were Knowing, X-Men Wolverine, Angels and Demons, Star Trek, This Is It, and A Christmas Carol.  I also liked Confessions of a Shopaholic and Bride Wars, but I didn't think they were very good movies.
  • Oh I totally forgot The Blindside...that movie was excellent!
  • I have 2 and they could not be more different!  My favorites were The Hangover and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. :)

  • I enjoyed UP as well - just saw it this past week.  Being the sap that I am, I cried through a lot of it... but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  It's too bad that it's 90% an adult's movie, and 10% kid's movie, though...

  • I really liked The Proposal and I Love You, Man.  I've heard Up is really good.  My little brother got it for Christmas, I'm going to have to borrow it from him!

  • Julie and Julia was my favorite movie - hands down.
  • Star Trek..its the best movie I've seen in years...but I love sci-fi and grew up watching TNG.
  • For some reason I really liked The Sex and the City Movie.  I never really liked the show that much but the movie was pretty good.  I'm also a Harry Potter Fan Big Smile.  Wolverine was pretty good too.  Too many to choose from.
  • DH and I saw Avatar in IMAX... and it was definitely one of the best movies I've seen in a really long time. Aside from that... I really liked Happy Go Lucky... and I'm trying to think about what else I saw... it was a really long year lol.
  • I really liked Inglorious Basterds, Zomieland, The Hangover and New Moon (oh yes, I am a twi-tard!)

  • THe proposal, hangover, my sisters keeper, confessions of a shopaholic, bride wars, Pelham 123, and precious was good too.

  • The Hangover and The Blindside are the two that stand out in my mind. DH and I are going to see Avatar tonight, so that might be added if it is as great as everyone says it is!
  • Up is #1 on my list!  (And yes, DH and I both cried... we watched it the day we got back from the honeymoon and were super sentimental.)
  • We've tried twice to see Avatar.  The first time we got 2ft of snow and couldn't get out, the second time it was sold out even though we tried to buy tickets 4 hours early.  We'll probably try again this weekend so that might be on my list soon.
  • Up is number one on my list too--DH and I both cried as well, New Moon, Coraline, Harry Potter, 9, NOT the Hangover...lol  I think DH and I were the only 2 people who didn't like it

  • I know I already answered this one (The Hangover and The Fantastic Mr. Fox) but I saw a movie tonight and even though it's not '09 anymore, I had to post it.  Up in the Air - it was fantastic!  I may be biased because it was filmed mostly in St. Louis (where I live) but I thought it was GREAT!  If you haven't seen it... please do! :)

Whew, DH and I saw Up in the Air tonight and were disappointed. He was really excited about it because he used to travel a lot for work, and several friends saw it and highly recommended it. Darn. Tongue Tied

However, I LOVED The Fantastic Mr. Fox! Away We Go and Where the Wild Things Are were both really cute too. I guess we like the more indie-style movies!
