can anyone figure this out for me?

The stroller I want - the Baby Jogger City Mini Double - is ridiculously expensive in Australia...about $750. In the States, it runs closer to $400 (and if I get it through this site and use their 15% off coupon, it's $339). Because the Aussie dollar is relatively strong at the moment, it makes a lot of sense to buy it in the US and get it shipped here.

The problem is that most stores won't ship directly here, so I'll be calling upon a nestie who has volunteered to send it to me, and I cannot for the life of me figure out the dimensions of the box to get an estimate of what that shipping will cost (on eBay I've seen it from $150 - $300, so clearly I need to narrow it down to make sure it will be worth my while to buy it overseas - if it's $150 then yes, if it's $300 then no).

Amazon says the shipping weight is 30.4 pounds. But the only dimensions they give are for the assembled stroller (30.2 x 29 x 41.2 inches, weighing 26 lbs) not for the box it ships in.

I did find something on this forum, where one poster says that the box seems very small - and there are photos of the box on that site too, but obviously no way to tell how big it really is. Sad

Does anyone have a clue how I might figure this out?

Re: can anyone figure this out for me?

  • Hmm... if you can figure out how large those green FedEx stickers are (I'd guess no larger than 3x5"?) you might be able to guess at the dimensions of the box.  I would probably estimate 40x40x12.

  • If this is the right stroller, then this website has the shipping dimensions of the stroller:

    Shipping Information

    Shipping dimensions 32 (h) x 31 (w) x 6 (l) inches Shipping weight 29 lbs

  • Woah, I was way off!

OMG this is it!!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I knew one of my nesties would come through!

OK so according to this info...I'm still confused.

Priority Mail International is the cheapest option ($170.81), but their size restrictions are: Max. length 42", max. length plus girth combined 79".

Length plus girth on this box would be 32" + 74" = 106" - did I calculate that right? Do they actually want the girth (all of the width measurements combined: 31*2 + 6*2) or just the width alone (31")?

If it's actually the measurements all of the way around the box, then that makes the postage nearly $300. Sad Booooo!

  • i'm a little tired to figure this one out - but i would just call a US post office and ask them - or see if there is someone you can email from usps.gov :)

Oooooh, sorry, but it looks like Baby Joggers are excluded from the coupon savings!  (I was trying to price compare since we just bough the City Classic)

I encountered the same problem when I tried to use a $20 off stroller coupon on BrU the other day.  Turns out it's one of "those" brands and not eligible.

Good luck on the shipping... what a pain to pay all that extra.   I had to pay $15 extra shipping to Hawaii, but I guess that's nothing compared to international.  :(

The weird thing is, it looks like the Baby Joggers are excluded, but for some reason the double isn't. I have no idea why, but when I add it to my cart and apply the coupon, it works (I tried it with a single stroller and no luck though).

I think you're right on this one...I'm going to see if I can find an email address - it's just all too confusing and I don't want to make a huge mistake!

WOW, score!  Guess I should be glad for my deal... but you know we always want it cheaper!!! :)
