When would you be concerned?
I went off the BCP in early November and still haven't had a visit from AF.
I had been on the pill for a long time before I went off, so I am expecting that things will not just go back to normal so quickly. Has anyone had a similar experience with going off the pill? When would you be concerned enough to go to a doctor about it?
TIA for any advice, reassurance that you can give
Re: When would you be concerned?
My periods have been super irregular since going off the pill about 8 months ago. I think I've only had roughly 4 since then. I am making an appt with my doctor soon because of it.
Are you ttc? Could you be preggo? I've gone through a lot of pg tests in the last 8 months "just to make sure".
I am charting to avoid pregnancy right now, so as far as I can tell I have not ovulated yet.
I did take a pregnancy test a few days ago, because I was getting concerned and it was negative. Besides my temperatures have remained low all along and we have been very careful, so I was pretty sure it was going to come back negative. I guess I will be going to the doctor soon if nothing happens.
I had a very similar experience when I went off the BCP over a year ago. I ovulated once in 12 months. According to my gyno, you should have a period at least every 3 months. He was adamant about that.
That being said, my GP didn't do anything when I told them repeatedly about not getting a period. I had to tell them I wanted a referral to a gyno in order for anything to happen. I've only had one other period and that was after being put on progesterone for 2 weeks to induce a period.
I have heard from friends though that it took up to 3 months for AF to show up after stopping the pill. Hopefully it will show up soon.
