Throwing a Co-Ed baby shower... ideas?!

I'm throwing a co-ed shower for my aunt and uncle, and need some ideas!  If you have been to or have had a co-ed shower- what were the things that were most enjoyed by the guests? Was alcohol (like wine) served? Are there certain games the the guys enjoyed more than others?  TIA for your help!!

Re: Throwing a Co-Ed baby shower... ideas?!

  • I've never been to a co-ed shower.  C showed up for my baby shower as I was opening gifts so he missed the games.  Stick out tongue  Which probably would have driven him crazy!

Do you have a chocolate fountain?  Those always seem to be a huge hit with everyone including the guys!  I think alcohol is fine to serve.  Maybe make a sangria or something like that?  Or some other signature drink that both men and women will enjoy?

Wish I could help more with the games but I don't think C would have liked any of the ones we played at my shower!  That being said, for my 2nd baby shower (I had 1 in the Bay Area and 1 down here) we didn't play any games at all.  It was a luncheon at Eagle Glen and we just ate, talked and I opened presents.  Big Smile

  • I love the whole no-games idea- but the mommy-to-be wants games, lol :)

I was thinking for alcohol- if I serve it- I would like to serve Mead... I know odd- but I have a theme idea and the daddy-to-be only drinks mead, lol.

They are going to do Classic Pooh as their theme- so I figure everything could be honey / bee/ poo themed... I was thinking Honey Alcohol (Mead), then some sugar cookies shaped and decorated like the Classic Pooh characters, then I found some cute favors that are miniatur 4" tall honey pots- super cute and actually functional! :)  I'm trying to think of other ideas- but would like to add in a luncheon type idea as well.

I'm trying to minimize the games to get the guys involved but not totally annoy them- so I have a few in mind, but have to see what mommy-to-be wants too :)

Thanks for the ideas- keep 'em comin'! :)

I googled "Co-ed Baby Shower Games" and got the links above - hopefully they'll help!

I love the Classic Pooh stuff and sticking with that as a theme is a good idea!  Not too much pink to scare the guys off!  Wink

  • I have never been to a co-ed shower (MH would die) but I would most definitely suggest having booze/beer/wine available.  :)

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I helped with my friend's co-ed shower. We did mexican food and tried to do more guy-friendly games such as:

beer drinking out of a baby bottle (classy, I know)

match the celeb baby to their parents (names)

pin the baby on the mom to be - we cut out pics of babies and had to attach them to the pg lady. Sounds wierd, but it was hilarious.

  • We had a co-ed shower. We had a couple of games. I know we also did the beer drinking out the baby bottle one. I think there was also a matching game too. So obviously, we had alcohol at the party.

I was surprise DH wanted a co-ed baby shower since he didn't want a co-ed wedding shower, but he wanted to be a part of it. Our was just a big party with husbands and kids (we had a jumper in the back yard for the kids).

  • LOL at the beer in the bottle- that would be an interesting one! :)

Thanks for the advice all! I was thinking alcohol because guys aren't into the foofy stuff lol- definitely some good ideas for keeping them interested and not completely horrified!

  • we had a co ed shower but the guys were just uncles and grandpas so they aren't exactly in the same age group as your uncle.

I'm so glad you mentioned pooh though I just saw the cutest pooh themed party in a magazine. And now I have an excuse to buy it Big Smile

Let me hunt thru my party blogs and see what other ideas I can find

And of course you know I'm totally game to help out. Your aunt is just so cute.

  • We had a co-ed shower and held it at John's Incredible Pizza up in Fresno.  It worked out great.  No games because I didn't want any.  What about the one where you have a box of baby things that people can look at for X minutes, then they have to try to remember as much as possible and write it down?  We did one at my friend's shower where you get the letters of the baby's name and make as many words as possible from them.

DH would love a shower where mead was served! He brews his own.
