I've got some big news...

...no, I'm not PG again already Stick out tongue but A said her very first words at just 7 weeks!! we're so excited/proud, though we're both a little bummed it wasn't "mama" or "dada" Smile

we just got back from a trip to middle-of-nowhere TN where A got to meet her great grandma.  we didn't have any internet access there, so that's why i have been a little MIA from the board. (about to go catch up on posts in just a minute here)

i think it was around 4 weeks that she started coo-ing but it was just every once in a while... just before Christmas, she started doing it more often, especially whenever I was changing her diaper or put her down on the bed for a minute.  i was able to capture a pretty good video of her doing it before christmas that i was able to send to our family, joking that it was her "saying" merry christmas to everyone in baby-speak

well, when we got to TN we were telling everyone about how much she had been "talking" and of course she wouldn't say a thing when she was around everyone.  all she did was sleep even though she was being passed around! on one occasion, she said "oh" but DH said that doesn't qualify as a "word" Stick out tongue then on NYE, i took her into the bedroom to change her and she started coo-ing again.  i quickly called DH, my MIL and SIL into the room to hear her talking... my SIL brought the camera in and started taping her making all sort of sounds.  well, MIL kept talking to her, saying "hi" and "hello" to her when all of a sudden she said "hi" back!! Surprise we caught this on video and you'll see that after she says this it gets all quiet in the room b/c we all turned and looked at each other in shock that she said her first word! then on new year's day FIL walked up to her and said "hi" and she said "hi" back again!!! wish we had been able to capture the 2nd time on video too but at least we got it the 1st time around! no one wants to believe us, so we put the video up on youtube - here's the video

ever since this trip, she has been super talkative during her awake time.  she talks up a storm whenever she is on the changing table...and, she now insists on chatting during nursing sessions!! after she is done on one side, she refuses to continue nursing on the other side until she has spent at least a few minutes "talking" to me...which is super cute during the day but not so cute at night when I want to sleep! (but luckily she is still STTN at 5-6 hr stretches now)

everyone who saw her commented on how amazed they were as to how alert and talkative she was for a 7 week old.  it's so fun seeing her grow and develop... today she kept muttering what sounded like "uh oh" and we can't wait to find out what she'll start saying next.
