Are you running outdoors in this weather?

Re: Are you running outdoors in this weather?

  • woa ... what is up with my spelling/grammar this morning. oops
  • Yep.  What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!!

Yesterday Dh and I didn't run--but we did a nice 4 mile walk to run some errands.  Tonight we start the running plan again in preparation for the NC half marathon in March.

Just remember to layer up--but also that once you get going, you'll warm up REALLY quickly.  My winter running clothes are pretty nasty--but they work--"nasty" meaning old beat up long sleeved shirts that I don't care if I stretch out the sleeves by tying them around my waist if I get too hot. I usually will wear lined running tights, a long sleeved shirt, with a light weight fleece with either a windbreaker jacket or another sweatshirt, hat, gloves and wool socks and I'll start out cold, but as I mentioned earlier will usually work up a good sweat quickly enough.

  • Nope, 40 degrees is where I draw the line.  :)  I've been running on the treadmill (even though it's completely boring) and trying other activities like zumba and spinning classes.
  • Ugh, I'm trying to convince myself that this answer should be yes. I have all my running clothes here at work for a lunchtime run, just have to get them on. I really need to run, though, it's been a little over a week and I hate to lose any more stamina.
  • I'm usually a morning runner, but it's just SO cold in the morning.  I'm supposed to run with a running group tomorrow morning at 6am, but the lows are in the 20's with a 10-15mph wind.  I'm thinking it's going to be a lunchtime or treadmill run tomorrow.
  • I've been trying.  I ran last Sun, Tue, and Thurs but couldn't make myself do it yesterday.  I need to get some gloves.  Then I think I'll be okay.  I think I'm going to try to join a gym so I can run on a treadmill before work or during lunch (or at least be able to shower after my midday run).  I'm trying to start training for the Tobacco Road Half in March so I need to get moving!

  • yep, just got back from a 4 mile run actually.  the wind sucks, but honestly today at 25 degrees felt no different than sat am. before the sun came up and it was 17.

  • I don't normally run, but I do walk. I actually don't mind it once I have enough layers on. DH on the other hand, wined and complained yesterday while we were walking.

Ditto.  Except I didn't do a very good job convincing myself today. I'm glad I ran this past weekend though.

  • Just ran in a windchill of 26 last night. As long as I can keep the air warm with a face mask, I'm good to go regardless of the temp.
