I went to see Avatar this weekend (no spoilers)

And I just didn't love it.  I thought it was a good movie, the graphics were great, the story was MUCH better than the last Cameron hit I saw (Titanic, which I disliked immensly)...but I just kept waiting for them to burst out in song, singing "Circle of Life" from the Lion King.  It was entertaining and I LIKED it, but I think the media, Dh and his brother had built it up so much that unless the film really was magical, it just wouldn't meet or exceed my expectations.  We did splurge to see it in 3-D, which I suppose added a little "something" to it, but it wasn't necessary either.

The concept/idea of being able to go from living a human life to a different species was pretty kick hiney, though!!  That idea, I did love.  Big Smile

  • I am with you on this one. We saw it New Year's Eve (after the in-laws made it sound like the best movie EVER) and even though we liked it, we were not blown away by it, by any means. We also saw it in 3-D, which made it fun, but I did not walk away from it thinking (I am dying to see that movie again), like many other people did.

agreed with all points. we also saw it in 3D too and would recommend it just for the visual effects. It also reminded me a lot of the cartoon movie Ferngully.
