Any New Year's resolutions or hopes for 2010?

This time of year always gets me thinking about what I want to accomplish in the year ahead, or ways I'd like to improve myself.  Any resolutions or hopes for the year ahead?

I'm trying to start small....cook healthier meals, be more active, and cut down on the internet time!

I'm also hoping that everyone stays healthy this year, and we do not have any major changes like in that past few years (moving, having another child, etc.)  I'm looking forward to an uneventful year.

Re: Any New Year's resolutions or hopes for 2010?

  • I know what you mean about this time of year.  It got to be the end of December and I had to sit down and talk with DH about our plans for the upcoming year.  This year is very hard to plan because so much is up in the air with DH's job and the contract for my job is up in May.  If one or both of us ends up jobless in Phoenix, we'll likely be moving back east (or somewhere else outside AZ, but hopefully back east!).  I think our #1 goal for this year is to start working on baby #2.  If things work out with jobs the way we'd like, we'll probably also put our townhouse on the market and look to buy a house.

Otherwise, my goals are to eat better and cook more this year and try to say less stressed about things.  This past year was rough with finishing my PhD and starting a new job, so I really hope to be able to breathe and take it all in this year!

  • I'm really looking forward to an amazing year watching Jack grow.

My first hopes are to be the best Mom I can be by not letting work leak into my free time as it has in the past and enjoying all of our time together as a family.  I'd also like to take better care of myself and cherish our downtime by not over scheduling ourselves.
  • I've been thinking about this a lot too.  We have too many options on our plate and need to figure out what direction we're going to go in.

We've decided to ttc again.  Neither of us are expecting it to happen w/o meds but we're hoping that it does.  I won't be able to seek treatments until I've stopped nursing E, which hopefully won't happen until he can tolerate milk or self weans, whichever comes first.

We're going to look into selling our house.  Depending on the market we'll try to sell or stay here for another 1-2 years.

I'd like to keep up with paperwork better this year.  I've improved in the past few years but I'd like to do better than I have.

I hope to find the time to attend a support group for parents of food allergic kids.  I've learned a lot this past year but there is so much more to learn.  I also hope to continue to eat healthier even once Ethan outgrows his allergies.

We bought a DSLR for Christmas and I need to learn how to use it!

Yeah I need to add this to my list too!  I LOVE your sig pic by the way.  I wish I had at least one decent pic I liked of Jack and I.

We should find time to take a class together.  Even if we found online tutorials and practiced together, it would help motivate me.

And, thank you!  Matt is so proud that he took that picture.  I'd pass it along that you love it, but we all know that he thinks he's awesome already!  There are a few ones of you and Jack that I love... esp b/c you look so happy :)

  • I agree, love your new sig pic Christina!  How exciting for you guys with your plans for the new year :)  Best of luck to you!

I'm not one to make resolutions because I never stick to them...hopes is more like it.  My hope for 2010 is for DH to get a job offer, period.  Everything else will just be icing on the cake for us!  I feel like a lot of life decisions are on hold waiting to see what will happen.

Some personal changes I'd like to make this year are: to cook more and attempt more recipes, keep a better house and get more organized, craft/stamp/make cards more (I forget how much I enjoy this!), workout more (30 mins. on a tredmill 2-3x/week does not qualify), spend more quality time with DH (no laptop, tv, or other distractions).

  • i was and am very happy to say goodbye to 2009.  although i am unsure of what 2010 will bring, there are some goals i'd like to accomplish!

    1) start lifting..again.  i used to be a huge fan of weight lifting, but have since fell off that wagon.  i miss it.  i just need to find the time to do it again.

    2) learn to use all the awesome functions of my dslr.  i am going on 2 (?) years of owning my camera, and i know i am not using it to its full potential.  my SIL bought me a great, informative book on my camera for christmas.  i can't wait to read it!

    3) learn how to use photoshop...correctly.

    4) finish organizing our house, paint both upstairs bathrooms, and get new flooring for the downstairs.

i think that is it for now.  i am sure i will add more as time goes on!!

jen & christina - what kind of dslr did you get??

  • Christina, that new siggy pic is adorable!  Love it!  Good luck with TTC...I pray that this one goes much easier for you both.

Good luck to everyone with their resolutions!!!  Here are mine:

    1. My biggest goal and the one I am most motivated about is becoming a top seller with Lia Sophia Jewelry and earn the trip to Cancun.  I really want to make this a more full time career.  The potential in this company is amazing and I make a lot of money with one show plus it is so much fun.  It's my goal to make a good career out of this...I want to be one of the ladies who gets to stand up on that stage and talk about all the money they make and all the fun they have!! (If anyone is interested in hosting a show (or book show), let me know.)

    2. Like most of us, eat more healthy.  I lost 20 lbs. when I was pregnant but I really think I gained it all back!  I went crazy with eating after Keaton was born because I was so happy to be off the gestational diabetes diet...I guess I went a little TOO crazy!

    3. To become a more relaxed person.  I am such a huge worry wort and I can't ever calm down enough to enjoy things in life.  It is important for Keaton (and myself) to be more happy/relaxed with life.  I'm so sick of feeling sick all the time from the constant worry although the depression/anxiety meds I am on are helping a lot.

Those are my main goals for 2010.  Of course, being an excellent mother to my little boy is most important and something I strive for each and every day.

  • I really need to cut down on my procrastination and internet time/iphone game time which leads to said procrastination.

If we end up moving, this will be a big year of change!  More wall paper removal and painting, at least this is our until we retire house.

Sounds like we need to find a photo class for all of us!  That would be so much fun!

Angela, thank you so much.  What a nice compliment.  I've taken all of my pics except my current sig pic with my old camera (Canon s3is) which is a bigger point and shoot with a few manual functions.  I loved it until it started producing super grainy photos and video after using it for 3 years.  I'm not sure what the issue is but it was time to upgrade.

I LOVE the names Evan and Violet!!!

I have the Canon Rebel XTi.  I love it..but I know I am not using it to its full potential!  I don't have any tips, except just to play around with the manual settings. If you ladies find a class, I am totally up for taking it!

  • As usual, I want to lose weight and eat healthier.  I have managed to lose 12 pounds on WW so I hope to continue.

I need to focus more on the positive things in my life.  I need to work harder on the relationships with some of my friends who are there for me and maybe break off some friendships that are just sucking the life out of me.  I have am an amazing little girl and a great hubby and I need to be more thankful for them.  I need to not let other peoples nastiness or bad attitudes get me down.

I need to be more organized and keep up better with things accumulating in my house.

We also need to decide IF we are going to TTC again.

  • Wow, lots of exciting goals for the new year!

Some of my goals are similar, take more pictures, eat healthier and work out. I have not yet mastered "working out" with a baby yet. I think I'm going to need to pull out some of my old workout DVD's and do them after Brynne goes to bed. I'm back on WW and am still attempting to lose my pregnancy weight!

I am also looking into going back to school. Yes, I did have a near nervous breakdown the last time I was in school, but I need to take 3 more classes to get my license. I don't NEED my license, but it's a goal that I set along time ago and I feel like I need to complete it before I have more kids.

I wish everyone a very Happy New Year!
