I'm being a whiney baby...

Backstory: My daddy is a preacher. He was at a church for about 5 years and all of a sudden things changed and all the people in the church(who are all kin in some sort of way) started treating him very wrong. So needless to say he is not at that church anymore.

Well one of my 2 BM is getting married and we met at this church. First of all she has not included me in her wedding at all. Not a big deal but she hasn't even asked my opinion, advise, or even told me the current date of the wedding(which has changed quite a few times) nothing.

She just now sent me a text saying her mom(who also goes to that church but was not one of the ones acting so aweful) and "them" (don't know who "them" are, I'm assuming the other ladies from that church) are throwing her a bridle shower next sunday from 2-4. I have not recieved an invite or anything. This is the first time she has contacted me in quite a while, although I know she has been busy planning. Another thing is if I go to this bridle shower at this church I know I will be just "ate up" to my face but talked about behind my back. So for that reason I'm pretty sure I'm not going.

I have no problem getting BM a wedding gift but I will more than likly take it to her at the wedding, if I even recieve an invitation.

What do think ladies? Should I go...Should I not go...? Am I being silly....?

I just don't want to put myself in that situation, but I want to be there for BM.

Re: I'm being a whiney baby...

  • I wouldn't go. Does your BM understand why you don't want to attend? If my friend was in a situation like that, I wouldn't want her to attend if it was going to make her uncomfortable.

I really don't think she even reliezes that I might be uncomfortable. And I understand that, cause when I was planning I was so scatter brain it wasn't even funny. I may just call her if I can get a hold of her and tell her I won't be able to make it.

  • No, I wouldn't go.  Why wouldn't her mom send you an invite? THAT's the part I find odd, but no... I wouldn't go.

Well they're not the most etiquette savy people and they may not have even set out invitations.

Ditto.  Odd.  But, with everything you said, especially about being uncomfortable, I wouldn't go.

  • Gotcha!

Then I would kindly back down. Maybe take her out for lunch and give her a small gift then...

I was thinking about doing this very thing.

    Thanks ladies!

Thats the route I would most likely take.
