Soooo...how were your holidays?
I know you all are back!! Let's hear it!
Re: Soooo...how were your holidays?
Are you referring to NYE/NYD?
NYE - I was mad @ DH. I took off of work on NYE, specifically to hang out with him, and doesn't he leave that morning to go snowboarding (I don't snowboard), and doesn't tell me till that moment. Thanks bud, thanks. So, I went into work anyway. We were supposed to go to his brothers house, but I was being a baby, and b/c I was mad at him didn't want to go. DH came home around 3, and went to sleep. Great. Ate dinner by myself, leftover chinese. DH woke up around 8, and I was asleep on the sofa by 9. Woke up NYD sick, and have been sick ever since.
On a positive note, DH and I are no longer fighting. I haven't had a drink since last Tuesday (one of my resolutions was to drink less), and haven't smoked since New Years day (another resolution to quit smoking), and b/c of being sick, haven't been eating - so that's helpin w/ the weight loss, for now! ha!
The only bad thing I can think of about NYE/NYD was that I didn't have a camera to capture all of the amazingness that happened haha... It was my best NYE yet, ridiculously fun, and it definitely gave me good feelings about 2010 when the ball dropped. The Mad Men party we went to was over the top (and B won 2nd place in his get up - ie, a black suit and a fedora haha), we popped champagne on the hour from 9-1, and we were dancing all night long.
And our friends got engaged (not with us - they live in Baltimore), so that was definitely icing on the cake of a great holiday!
Our NYE was chill. Low key house party at BFF's with Rock Band, apps, and champagne. Though next year I think I want to just do an at-home just me and hubs celebration. He had on his grumpy pants that night so I felt a little underwhelmed.
NOT happy to be back at work today. I can barely keep my eyes open.

Our holidays were really good... not too much family drama, even though the drive was shiitty both ways to Iowa we made it without problems, it just took longer, even though I had to work 3 out of 5 days last week that I wasn't supposed to, it ended up being a good, relaxing time off and I still feel like I havent been to work in forever which is really helpful since I am so burned out on my job right now.
We rejoined our gym this weekend and actually got up at 5:30 this morning to go workout before work (this is about the 100th time we've said we were going to and only time we actually did).
I went shopping yesterday and got 4 sweaters, 1 shirt, a scarf, a stainless steel skillet, mini tart pans, and some new workout clothes for $125 due to post-christmas sales at Gap, Banana, and BB&B.

Wow Philly, sorry for that sucky NYE. Boo.
Sounds like everyone else had a nice time (sushi + wine tour + hours of Dexter, yes please!)
Ours were nice too, though I have officially decided to celebrate my birthday on a different day (other than NYE). Everything is just 'different.' Restaurant menus are different, cab fares are different, club admissions are different, people who would normally never go out are out. It's just a sh!tty day/night to try to celebrate since everyone charges an arm and a leg and tries to make everything 'special.' It's dumb. But that said, our NYE/my birthday dinner was incredible and we went a few cool bars, but it cost us about twice as much as it would have if it were any other day.?
This is exactly what I hate about NYE... might be one of my least favorite nights to go out. DH and I decided we may start an annual NYE party at our place next year.

Christmas was nice because we unexpectadly got to see both families. We spent Thanksgiving with DH's family, so we spent Christmas Eve & Christmas with mine. But, the day after Christmas, my SIL came into town, so we extended the holiday celebration for two days and did "Christmas" again on the 26th and 27th with her and my FIL.
NYE was super low key. We stayed in, watched The Ugly Truth and a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. We played board games and had a ravioli dinner. It was just the two of us, but it was so nice. Then, this weekend, we started doing research on possibly buying a home next year (in June-ish of 2011) and making plans for how to work towards that goal and all the research/steps we need to take in the process.
I was concerned about this because my last 2 NYE's have been super expensive, but this year, we stayed at one place (a hotel bar, actually) and spent a lot less. We paid $200 for a table for 6 (roughly $34 a person), which paid for the table, a bottle of champagne, gourmet appetizers and sushi, and then we bought individual drinks, and each couple bought a bottle of champagne separately. It was great and a lot cheaper than what we paid in covers last year!
