Hi there!  I want ask your expertise :)  We're heading back to NYC to visit friends at the end of this month and I'm trying to find a good restaurant for a relatively large (probably 10-12) group with varying budgets.  Any advice/suggestions?  Most of my favorite places are super small or pretty expensive something in the middle would be good :)

Thanks for the help!

PS Your siggy pic of baby Dennis makes me just want to squeeze him :)

LOL!  I know how much you loved Essex and I know it is small, but we sat at the top and they sat a table of 15 while we were there!

  • I LOVE Cafe Cortadito. It's a little Cuban place on 3rd Street between Ave B & Ave C. Its small (what isn't!) but they have a room in the back that if you can and make a reservation they will be able to accomodate. We've had get togethers there before with like 12-14 people and it was good. The good/bad depending on your view is that it is BYOB (personally I love it) you just hand them your beer or wine when you get there and they put it in the fridge for you. I think they may charge a corkage fee after the 3rd or 4th bottle of while. The food is AMAZING.

I'll think about it for a few and let you know if I come up with something else super yummy.

That sounds really cool.  I may go ahead and give them a call to see if the room is available.  Thanks and I'll be on the lookout for if you have another stroke of culinary genius :)

Thanks Squeesh :)  Yeah, I was thinking of more of a dinner get together with the big group and I want to save Essex for brunch... you know, I love mimosas :)
