Breast Pain?

I'm waiting for an appointment with my doctor but I'm wondering if you guys have some suggestions.  They are both sore and it's like the pain is coming from the inside, rather than from my skin.  I've been on the same birth control for a few months, so I don't think it's a change in hormones.  Any suggestions of the cause?

Re: Breast Pain?

  • Sounds like lymph nodes. they are on the side of your breasts. The breasts are actually tear drop shaped, with the tip of the tear ending in your armpits. Does this sound like where your pain is? So your lymph nodes can swell and become painful for a number of reasons: your period, a cold, an infection. Basically the lymph nodes filter your blood and catch all the bad stuff. Perhaps this is your problem?

  • It could be your birth control.  I was on one kind for a few months before I got constant breast pain.  I ended up switching and it helped.
  • I've heard that stress causes your body to produce more estrogen which can lead to your breasts being more tender than normal.  Have you been under more stress than usual?

  • Are your menses soon? If you've been diagnosed with fibrous breasts, they can get extra sore around that time.

  • I was on the pill for a few months before my boobs started getting sore and when they did it was awful. My guess was it took a few months for the hormones to build up in my system and once they did - I couldn't even hug people. My bra hurt. It sucked so I went off the pill. But I agree with the others too - PMS, lymph nodes - it could be several things. If you are feeling ok otherwise and don't typically get sore before your period then I would say it's gotta be the bc. Timeline makes sense. Your doctor might be able to switch you to a low dose pill. I was already on one and still had the problem but you could try that if you are on a normal dose.
