Wine oops - help?

Hi! I posted on cleaning and organizing, but thought I might pick your brains on this one as well. This was my first major nerd moment of the year!

I had a bottle of white wine in my car wrapped and ready to go to the post office as a gift to the in-laws.  I had put it out in the car last night so I wouldn't forget to drop it at the post office today (totally was not thinking!). In the sub zero overnight temps, the wine bottle popped the cork and leaked wine all over the upholstery.  The smell is unbelievable!!

I have tried Oxy clean and it didn't do much. Any ideas on how to de-stink the car?  I

Re: Wine oops - help?

  • I would try vinegar and water.  I will smell like vinegar at first of course, but that will go away.  Or you could lick your carpet clean.....just kidding. Stick out tongue
  • Hahahahahah.... don't get pulled over.  The cop won't believe you when you swear you haven't been drinking.

Okay, in all honesty, I was going to suggest oxyclean.  It got red wine completely out of a pale blue sweater (and the wine had been sitting for three days). Was the car warm and the water you used also warm when you tried using it?
