I'm giving my notice tomorrow
I feel sort of like I'm jumping off a bridge.
I started my nanny job in August. It's guaranteed 40 hours a week at a good pay rate. I'm leaving it (I have to give 8 weeks notice) to take an interim teaching position on Durham Public Schools. So after the teacher gets back from maternity leave i'll just be on the sub list. It's a big pay cut then not guaranteed employment....but I feel like it's best for me to get my foot in the door.
The family I work for has NO idea. I feel so bad and I'm dreading tomorrow. I can't decide whether to do it when I get there, at nap time (although mom sometimes isn't home then), or at the end of the day.

Re: I'm giving my notice tomorrow
I agree w/ Terp... end of day would probably be best.
Good luck, I hope they receive the news kindly. I think they should be proud of you and supportive of your desire to better yourself!
I agree that it would seem the end of the day would be best, but if the conversation feels comfortable earlier, go ahead and do it...you'll feel more relieved once it's out in the open.
Good Luck!
Changes in a job or career track are always scary, but good for you for going after what you really want to do!
I also vote for telling the family at the end of the day for all the reasons posted above. GL!
