Recommend you canister vacuum
I'm shopping for a new vacuum, and am thinking that canister vac is the way to go - our floors are mainly laminate, so I don't need a Dyson, and I'd like the agility I think I'd get with a canister. Anyone have one to recommend?
Re: Recommend you canister vacuum
i have the bissell pet hair eraser. so far im really enjoying it (wow, likes/dislikes change when we become adults). i have both carpet and laminate (mostly use the hose on the laminate - around the edges and between grooves).
reasonably prices and found in quite a few stores.
I bought a Riccar canister. That being said, it was about $700, so that should be noted. However, it should -- under good conditions -- last me for a LONG time. Unlike the ones you can purchase at Target, etc, which aren't built to have much of a lifespan.
We adore our vacuum, and the bags for it are very reasonably priced. You'd have to go to a vacuum store, though, to find them.
I LOVE my Miele canister. I did a lot of research for vacuums because I was very frustrated with our old vacuum. We have half hardwood and ceramic tile and half carpet plus two sets of stairs so I needed a good overall vacuum. Aerus also makes good canisters, but they are longer and heavier. I really prefer the maneuverability of Miele. I also highly considered SEBO, but I think Miele has the better canisters and SEBO has the better uprights.
I would definitely recommend going to several vacuum stores and trying several out in person. The differences are incredible. Several Central PA stores also offerred to let me take them home to test drive before buying.
DH now says that buying a great vacuum that actually picks things up the first time is one of the best decisions we have made.
