US Job Satisfaction At A 22 Year Low

http://money.cnn.com/2010/01/05/news/economy/job_satisfaction_report/index.htm.

I wonder how much the person who conducted that sudy got paid?  I could have totally told you this!

Re: US Job Satisfaction At A 22 Year Low

  • oh, I could have joined you in that...

Bossman just entered my office to give me a phone call(our phones are down so he has his Nextel)... and it's still my lunch hour. We need the business, but I was doing something very important.

  • Not surprising!

  • I think when the economy recovers, a lot of businesses are going to be in for a rude awakening when their overworked and underpaid employees leave for better jobs and they realize that the new person they hired can't do the work of 5 people.
  • Yup....Our boss just made it so that we cant request a VACATION day over a paid holiday...So for instance, we are planning to go to Indiana for 4th of July....But since 4th of july is a paid holiday off here, I CAN NOT have approved vacation time.

ALSO he has now decided that we can only take our vacation time between May 15th and October 1st...

I already have my 2 weeks worth of vacation planned...and NONE of it falls under these new INSANE guide lines.

i cant leave. I make more then most do in an Admin position....ugh.

Totally agree.  I think a lot of companies out there took measures they didn't need to that negatively impacted their employees over the past year or so, but could get away with because they used the excuse "other businesses were doing it during the recession."  I think there will be a lot of upheaval when the economy improves.

  • I can't say I'm surprised...

Sigh, how many hours left at work today....

Exactly. There are many businesses that weren't affected by the downturn of the economy, but they used it as an excuse to freeze salaries or cut employee's pay. It's gross.

I am the PERFECT example of this.  And what am I going to do???  No one else is hiring and I made so much before that even at half my pay I make what regular full time admin jobs are hiring for right now. So, work full time for the same pay as 20hrs?  No thanks!  Plus, no one would hire me right now anyway.  DH said that they had an admin job open and they had like 1,000 applicants, and let me tell you, it wasn't well paying.

Yup.... my company being one of them, unfortunately.  It's oh so nice to always hear about how the company is gaining revenue and profits during the recession.  Yet, we have freezes on hiring and money, have tons more work, and get nothing for it.  It disgusts me.
