did you make any New Year's resolutions/goals?
If so, what are they?
And how are you doing so far?
Re: did you make any New Year's resolutions/goals?
So far, my list is short: get my magazine articles organized.
I may add a few of the resolutions that I did not achieve from last year to this year year, but maybe that was just a wake up call as to where my priorities lay.
I try to be specific with my resolutions, so for me to say "go greener" wouldn't work. Something more like "bike to work once a week" would--but again, unfortunately, that's unrealistic.
Dh and I may try to run a 1/2 marathon for time in March, but I don't nearly have the heart (yet) to do that.
If I can get my list down on paper by the end of January, I'll feel better--i think I just need to explore my options a little more. I suspect many of them will be financially related.
I don't like calling it a 'resolution', but I need to get back to the gym after taking a holiday break. Went yesterday and going again today. I also started back up on tracking a food diary on Spark People.
some other things that i want to improve:
- getting to work on time and leaving on time
- keeping better track of my bills
I have never done a New Years resolution, but I do see the start of a new year as a positive for kick starting (or getting rid of) things in life
Each year is different, I'm looking forward to 2010 and what will happen
I feel that even though a year goes by so quickly, it's also too long for me to expect to do one thing or keep one goal the whole time, you NEVER know what life will bring.
I think I'm going to do more monthly resolutions this year that will hopefully become reality. For instance, January is cutting down on the amount of sweets. To help: I'm going through a 2-week sugar detox (no cookies, candy, donuts, cake, etc). It's only Day 2
.
OMG, Shh, you'll have to tell me houw you do with that. I was thinking of doing that myself for a short-term goal.
My other goals include writing down what I eat in a food journal for 30 days. I figure if I can do 30 days, I can probably continue on with this.
I also am pledging to "drive to the gym". My rationale is if I get to the gym, I'm most likely going to go and workout, but it doesn't seem to overwhelm me as much.
I also would like to pay off my student loan this year as well.
I don't like to call them New Year's resolutions because they are things I've been trying to do for a looooong time and I'd like to stick with them. I stopped doing resolutions a while back because I was not the best at getting them completely accomplished. I call them "thought-sparks" lol. They mainly have to do with getting healthier (in body AND mind). I actually have a blog post about it if you want to read them

ETA: So far I'm doing VERY good. It's been 6 days since I've had soda, I've been working out and doing yoga on a consistent basis and I feel really good and I have a very positive outlook.
For the first time it's a relief not to have feel like I need to make losing weight as my resolution since I'm pg. But...I know I need to eat better and now that I'm actually feeling better I want to start cooking more. Not only will it help with healthy meals, but also cut down on our dining out budget.
I also want to start going to church more often. Ever since we moved into our new house we have not made an effort. With a baby on the way I want to be more establish in our church and get to know the families more when our kids begin Sunday school. Initally our goal is once a month since we often attend my parents church.
Other goals for 2010 include getting organized, paying off our debt, set up Wills, PofA, get more Life Insurance and save $ for my maternity leave.
I've been wanting to start a blog so I finally did with the new year - I think I'm going to try to post at least a picture a day - we'll see how it goes.
I've also starting keeping track of what I eat w/ sparkpeople - I find that keeping track keeps me from snacking which is a bad habit of mine! And I'm trying to do yoga or pilates at least three times a week.
So far I'm doing good...but it's only the 5th sooo
If so, what are they? I'm reading all the books on my "to-be-read" shelf before I let myself buy anymore. I have a little over 30 books on the list. & Jen&tonica inspired me to join in Project 365 where you take at least one photo per day for a year.
And how are you doing so far? Books: I finished one this weekend (it was very short) and I'm in the middle of two more.Photos: So far, so good.
