Recommend an SUV...

..I have been researching SUV's and hope to get out of my Civic lease early to lease an SUV. The winters here are just too bad not to have 4WD!  So far, the Pilot is in the front, but wanted some suggestions that I might not have thought of!  Thanks!

Re: Recommend an SUV...

  • I don't own it, but my next car will be the Ford Edge.  I've driven them and LOVE the way they handle, plus I think they are so cute!
  • Toyota Highlander.  My favorite SUV hands down.  But I think the Pilot might be a little bit more price friendly.
  • I have a Mazda CX-7... On the smaller side of SUVs. I adore it!!!
  • Hi Mel!  We haven't yet test driven any SUV's but our next car will most likely be the Pilot.  I, too, am a Civic owner, and I absolutely love the reliability of Honda's.
  • I'm a Jeep girl....they are reliable and I haven't gotten stuck yet!  And, mine is a 97 that the lady drove w/o oil and blew up the motor so DH had to put a new motor in.  Thing takes a beating and still keeps on truckin' on.
  • I own a 2002 jeep liberty limited and LOVE it.  The 4 wheel drive has come in handy a lot.  We just got about 18 inches of snow a few weeks ago and an ice storm about 2 weeks ago and I had no problems at all.

DH really likes Acuras so if I were to get a new/different SUV it would probably be the RDX.  But I really love my jeep and will keep it as long as I can.  It's been good to me and you cant beat 0% financing.

  • Love my Honda CRV !
  • Not technically an SUV, but check out Subarus.  My parents both have legacies (in very very snowy and hilly upstate NY) and they absolutely love them!  They've made it up snowy hills when normal SUVs go sliding back down (lower center of gravity in sedans compared to SUVs).  If I moved back up to snow country, I'd definitely get one.
  • We were going to get the Edge but it's not big enough in the back for me or in the engine for DH (its a mechanic thing I guess).  I like the GMC Acadia and the Chevy Traverse
  • My mom has a Pilot and she loves it. I also love the Toyota Highlander. That will be my next vehicle if we can afford it. GL!
    Anniversary
  • thanks for all the suggestions ladies!  I knew I came to the right place.  All these ideas will keep me busy researching the next few days!
  • I just read a review on the Pilot in AAA.  I about fell out of my chair at the price.  Over $40,000????  That's insane.  DH drives a Chevy Tahoe and it is awesome.  If you're looking something smaller I would suggest the Ford Escape.  Everyone I know that has owned one loves that car.
  • I had an Audi A4 quattro and have to admit the 4 wheel drive car was fabulous in winter.  But with the baby on the way, we just bought a Mercury Mariner Hybrid and I love it.  I have a Sable years ago and it was a really reliable car.  Plus the hybrid helps with the gas mileage too and I got a tax rebate with it.
  • We did a lot of research when we bought mine. It was b/w the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Nissan Pathfinder. We ended up going the FJ and I absolutely love my car! I had 2 civics before this and it so nice to be able to drive in the snow now. That thing can go anywhere.

  • We just bought a 2010 Pilot and LOVE it!

In our book, it competed against the Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander, and the 4Runner and won hands down.

We paid around $40K for it because we got it loaded, but for an 8 passenger vehicle, totally worth it.
