So my mom comes and picks up the baby and follows me to the mechanics because I won't put the baby in the car with an exhaust problem. I drive there and my eyes are on fire by the time I get there, I had the windows cracked but it wasn't enough. I dropped off the car and mom and I start running errands. I get a phone call from DH 15 minutes later, "you have to go pick up the car now. They can't get the hood opened so they want you to take it to a nissan dealership. The closest one to you is in Kingston"
Well it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you might have to defrost the car before you can open the hood if it's been frozen in snow since Christmas Eve. So I get there and the woman at the counter in the shop says, " I can't the hood opened but we did a visual inspection under the car and there is a crack in the exhaust manifold. However since the car is only a 2008 we can't get the parts for it yet. We were going to fix the fuse issue for you but since we can't get the hood opened we can't see if that's your actual problem. I have called Kingston to say you are coming."
I told her very nicely that I was not driving to Kingston in this crappy weather in a car that I can't close the windows in and can't get to go above 90 without the car going insane and revving really high. DH is taking the car to Ottawa tomorrow and hopefully they can fix it.
Well as I was driving home I started getting a bad headache and discovered that the smell in the car was worse with the heat on, so I turned it off. It didn't seem to matter so I opened up all the windows all the way and drove the rest of the half hour drive on craptastic roads, doing 50 at the most and freezing my but off with a worsening headache.
It's been that kind of day...
