A great debate...cold vs. hot. (updated w/a poll for fun)

After seeing a few status updates this morning and some respsonses that made me giggle, I figured it would be interesting to know whether you prefer to be cold or hot.

Some people argue that they would rather be cold because they can always "put more on" where others argue that you can always "cool off when hot".

Where do you stand?

Re: A great debate...cold vs. hot. (updated w/a poll for fun)

  • I guess being cold. I'm used to it. I cannot STAND being hot unless I'm by water I can swim in. Whenever I'm hot, I'm just angry I'm not swimming.
  • I would rather be cold because I feel like I can be more productive in cold weather than I can in hot weather.  I feel the more I move around when its cold the warmer I will feel.  Plus, I LOVE to wear like 4-5 layers at all times (right now I'm wearing 4!).

  • I'd rather be cold. Cold ='s cute scarves and coats. You can always bundle up.

I HATE the hot...which is funny considering it gets up to 120 in the summers here :( I am mad when I am hot. Even though we have a pool, I hardly swam in it last summer. Because of the red hair. I have to either not get it wet, which means no real swimming around OR I have to wear a swim cap, which is a 2 person job to get the damn thing on.

    Cold over hot any day!

  • I like to be warm in cold weather. I like it to be cold outside while I'm snuggled up in front of a warm fire in a blanket.
  • I don't think I would say hot persay.  I just don't like being cold at all.  I think around 70 degrees everyday would be good for me.  And sure, I'll take a few 90+ days in between just for fun.
  • HOT!  I didn't move to AZ for nothing!

I have lived in pretty cold weather before (Lake Tahoe) and hated it.  I just cannot handle being cold.  Hot, here anyway, I don't really mind.  I love the hot nights, pool weather from March-Oct (actually, it's really warm enough today to sit out by the pool, but the water is too cold to get in it).  It does tend to wear my on nerves after say 3 straight months of temps over 110, but I still would rather have hot than cold.

  • I would rather be hot.  I guess its the July Louisiana baby in me that just can't stand the cold.  When I get cold, it hits me all the way to the bone and nothing I do gets me warm.  I love cold weather clothes but not enough to enjoy it.  I would rather be in a sundress, sippin on a cold drink, with my feet in the pool than burried under 5 layers of clothing and still can't feel my toes.
  • Hot.  I refuse to work out outside when it's this cold, but give me 90 degree weather and I'll go jogging outside-believe it or not.  I hate being cold... hate hate hate it.

I do, however, like the weather Sheri recommended... =)

I blame it being born in June in Orange Co, CA!

  • I'd probably rather be cold.  I'm more uncomfortable when I'm hot.

  • Cold, cold, cold all the way!

The temps here these days don't bother me at all...I'm fine with it anywhere in the teens-40s (it's the wind I don't like).  I'm perpetually uncomfortable in heat, especially when there's humidity.  I'm miserable no matter where I am and feel gross.  Cold, on the other hand, I love everything related to it--clothes, shoes, weather.  I sleep better when the house is cool.  I love bundling up in blankets.  I love sweaters.  I can always get comfortable if I'm starting from cold, but can never get comfortable trying to cool off from being hot.  I feel revived in cold weather and do better with exercise/diet as well.

  • I would much rather be hot.  I hate shivering and being cold.  I love the summer and flip flops.  Hot over cold any day.  Maybe I should move, lol.
  • HOT. All. The. Way!

When I am in cold it puts me in such a foul mood ... I can't concentrate and I hate everybody. I LOVE hot weather ... it feels so good to me.

This is me!  I just feel so frigid and my personality and attitude follow suit.

I am the complete OPPOSITE of this. I HEART the COLD....and I hate everyone when it is over 80 degrees (and that's a lot in Southern California!) LOL     I HATE being hot.

Even when I was in Alaska in 50 degrees BELOW zero.....I enjoyed it very much. The only down-side to it was walking on ice and having to blow-dry my hair every morning so it didn't freeze....other than that- LOVED IT!!

Give me jeans and hoodies over shorts and tanks ANY DAY.

Besides, I still wear my flip-flops during So-Cal Winters anyway :)

  • I ovted for HOT! Summer clothes are much cuter;)
  • Karrey, I am with you 100%. I'll blame it on the August Houston, TX baby.

I hate bing cold, and once I am cold, I cannot get warm. Yuck!! Even living in SC, this past month has been too cold for me!! I'm ready for Spring and Summer!!

Oddly, Winter is my favorite season though. I love to see snow, I just don't like going out in the cold.

Oh and Lorelie, I am with you. I go running at work in the summer and it's 80+ degress, but now I just stare out the window. Screw that!

  • I am miserable when I am too hot.  I hate being sweaty and overheated.  I can deal much better with being too cold and putting on a sweater.  My thoughts are that I can usually always add more layers to warm up but it sucks when I'm down to my last layer and I'm still too hot.
  • I actually get physically ill from being in the heat.  I don't know if it's just the humidity or what here but I hate it!  I'll take cold any day!

  • I've lived in the midwest my whole life, so I've always experienced bone chilling winters and humid hot summers.  I didn't love either, I used to hate the heat way more.  However, after spending a month in Greece with NO air conditioning and the temp being 90+ daily, I learned to survive and embrace the heat.  Granted, I showered 4 times a day to help me cope, but whatever works, right?
  • I'll take cold any day of the week! When you're bundled up, sure you look like the michelin man, but everyone else does too so it's no big deal. I can handle they dry skin that comes with winter. The less clothing you wear when it's hot, the more flaws show! I am just an angry, self-conscious lump when it's hot. I think the thing I hate most about the heat is sweating. My hair isn't very thick so it's a nasty, ugly mess immediately and my makeup just runs off so I look like a disgusting, wet hot mess BLECH. I'd have no qualms moving to alaska.
  • That's a tough one. . . I'm chilly if the temp is below 75, and I freeze my butt off below 50 (And I do mean my butt. My Grandma's nickname from my Grandpa was Cold Fanny Annie, and I take after her), but I also hate being too hot. And it's hard to cuddle when you're overheated and stinky. I guess I will go with the cold, and the sweaters, hot drinks, cuddles, and bubble baths that come with it!

But if I have to pick a vacation spot, I'm going somewhere hot!

  • I used to love the cold.  I loved sweaters and rainy days best.

Now, I can't get warm enough.  Give me an 85 degree day and I'm so happy.  I love a warm, balmy night.  I think my body went green and switched to solar power.

When I tell people I'm thinking of moving to Corona, they say...oh, but it's so hot there!  Bring it!  I will love the heat.

July in OC!  Maybe our heat fetish IS regional/seasonal?

And I lived in Lake Tahoe, too.  Such Cooooooold winters.  I still remember that toes-froze feeling.  Pass.
