Name change on Passport question?
So i've read on travel.gov site that you can get a new passport free of charge if got passport within year of first application, ie for a name change due to marriage.
Does anyone know if post office will process this or should everything be mailed directly to application office? Sorry to be confusing, but i don't want to go to post office, stand in line forever, to be told I have to mail in passport myself to change name rather then having post office do it for me.
TIA!

I did this back in August and did what jeremy.teresa posted. I had to fill out the paperwork I got online, send in my passport, 2 new passport photos, copy of marriage license, etc. Mail it in to the address it gives you , (I believe I sent mine to either New Orleans or Pennsylvania somewhere...can't remember, but it should say on the paperwork). I received my new one in the mail in about 3 weeks, they also sent back my old passprt, the copy of the marriage certificate, and the passport photos. Hope this helps!

I just got mine back from doing the same exact thing and I use this information. Everything you need to know on how to do it along with mailing it to the Processing Center in Philly is there.
Just mailed mine today!! Filled out the form and included everything it asked for and mailed it myself!
I have the piece of paper, 2 new photos and everything else. I just wasn't sure if post office could send the paperwork for you. For the people who sent it themselves, did you just put it all in a manilla envelope? I'd just hate for it to get lost in mail.
Thanks everyone for info!!
