I'm not good with plants. Mainly 'cause I tend to kill them. I never buy them for myself but for some reason tend to get them as gifts. It's kind of like letting a narcoleptic hold a live grenade--sure it works for a while, but eventually it's going to turn out bad.
While I was away on maternity leave, my office plant all but died off. There is literally one leaf left. I joked with a coworker today that my office is like a plant hospice. I was actually relieved that it would die soon, putting an end to its pitiful suffering at my hands.
She just came back from lunch with . . . wait for it . . . two brand new, healthy, green, full, blooming plants to replace my dying one.
I know she thought she was being thoughtful, but damn.
