Okay, who else watched last night? I know Big T did. ![]()
Jon Hamm is such an incredible actor. The sincerity in his eyes when he told Betty he loved her and the kids just broke my heart. I'm so pissed he isn't fessing up, but I guess I can see where it's tricky. Ugh, I bet he's feeling like the biggest putz for screwing around with Bobbi. I mean, if this had happened with Rachel, it would have been one thing... even the Bohemian chick. But Bobbi? That's just pathetic.
I hope Joan gets the job in the television department. The clients love her. The dynamic with her fiance is interesting. It's kind of cute that he wants to spoil her, but he doesn't get what's important. Curious to see how that plays out.
Still curious about the Peggy/priest relationship. Loved that he plays the guitar. ![]()
Re: ***Mad Men - Spoilers***
I don't know. She seemed pretty darn angry at Pete. I'm insanely curious to see what that's about. I mean, he doesn't know about the baby, but he does know about the affair. Maybe he confesses to the priest about that?
Also, they don't tend to have tricky trailers. They really turn out to be what you're thinking. (Like Jimmy saying 'I go to sleep at night, and I laugh at you.')
That was fantastic. Mr.P was asking why he doesn't just fess up. I think this is his desperate grab at keeping this life. He does truly love it, even if he takes it for granted a lot. Lying is the only way he knows how to hold on to it. It's kind of his MO, like how he told Peggy "you'll be shocked how much this never happened". Part of his warpedness.
I think Joan's denial that she wants anything more than to be head hen is wearing thin. The fact that Sterling is keeping her put adds another layer.
I thought the priest playing the guitar was funny. That's one of the weird things I really like about Catholic church - no guitars. They're just not reverent enough for me. And certainly not for pre-Vatican II. He's a rebel, I don't see him staying with the church for long. Actually, I see him jumping Peggy's bones. Intereseted to see what happens with her next week.
I feel like Joan will do the work but the new guy will get the credit. If she does get promoted, though, it would be interesting to see who takes her job. It's hard to imagine anyone else running that place.
As for Pete confessing... a lot of times non-Catholics/non-religious, will still feel guilt, so when they see a priest, they want to confess. Does that make sense? I guess perhaps that's reaching, but I definitely curious about that story line. I have a little fondness for Pete.
How are they able to have so many multidimensional characters? It's crazy.
Haha, that's what I said a couple weeks ago! I so want them to get together. omg, can you imagine? She'd be the Catholic version of a shiksa who seduced the priest!
Didn't think about the whole Catholics not playing the guitar thing. That sort of thing has been so common in my protestant experience.
Reviving this thread now that I've seen the whole series in like a week and a half. ?Awesome show!
I hate Pete. ?Hate him. ?I hope his d*ck falls off and Trudy finds someone better.
I hate Don slightly less, but I don't care for him either. ?He won't confess to Betty (though I believe he does love her) because that's not his MO. ?He does what's best for him in every situation. ?He, like Cooper, is a perfect Rand disciple. ?
The priest needs to leave the priesthood and love Peggy. ?Catholic priests, especially young idealistic hot ones make me so desperately sad. ?I honestly cannot bear the loneliness for him. ?I want him to be with Peggy, though in an appropriate, chaste Catholic way, not like in a tawdry premarital sex way.
Actually the guitar makes a lot of sense. ?Catholic priests in the 60s were kick ass. ?They were leading the Civil Rights voting drives, etc. ?They had sown up the religious left. ?Love it. ?Still, I want them to be able to lead normal lives.?
