I just sent this to the post office via their complaint system:
I recieved a Christmas gift yesterday that had the UPS packaging tape torn off and then re-taped with scotch tape. Inside there was food (prepackaged popcorn and candy) that had been wrapped in CLEAR cellophane with a bow. The cellophane had been removed from my package and crammed back into the side of the box. There was no note nor any explanation of not only why my package had been opened in the first place, but why it was necessary to unwrap the clear packaging inside the box. I do not appreciate my items being tampered with when the mail system should be safe and secure. How am I to know who unwrapped it and whether or not my food was tampered with?
As an aside, it was left in a locked box so there should have been no reason for public access once the package was sent from its original location by my sister.
Ugh- I know it may seem a bit dramatic, but I am just so mad! This isn't the first time I've had problems like this, but it still irritates me when things like this happen. At least previous times they've destroyed (literally) my things they leave a note that says something along the lines of "we process a shitton of mail and this happens" without any hint of apology, of course. And they wonder why people are using the mail system less.
