Has anyone done this yet? I didn't think I'd need mine for a while so haven't bothered and now we're in the process of trying to get a "babymoon" together that we'll leave for in less than 2 months. Is getting a name changed a quicker process than getting the inital passport? I have to get moving on this ASAP! I can't believe that I just thought of it now!
Re: Name changed on passport
That's good to know. I have to remember to grab my passport and license tonight to get the process started tomorrow. The only thing that made me think about it was reading Jenni's post about the Jamaican marriage license because I was trying to think of what mine says!
I did mine through the mail. You shouldn't have to go to the passport office. I would check it out. Save yourself the trip!
The original plan was for Sandals Dunns River Villaggio in Jamaica 7/9-16, however that clearly won't work now. Somehow I convinced Bri that March is our last opportunity for a vacation as a twosome. We're Sandals Signature guests and we have about $1000 in points with them, so I knew we were sticking with their resorts. Since I'm taking so much time off for the baby this summer, we have to keep the trip short (5 days) so our options were basically MoBay in Jamaica or the Bahamas because we wanted a direct flight and a resort close to the airport to minimize travel time. Since we've already been to the all the Sandals resorts in MoBay, we opted for the Bahamas to check out something new. Between our "credit" and the deposit we already put down in Sept that will be transferred, it's only costing us another $500, plus airfare. I'm waiting to hear back from my TA and hopefully we'll be booked this week! God, I love the Caribbean!
Sadly, I'm a little confused as to what vacation is like without alcohol. I'm hoping to just be so happy to get out of this bitter cold that I won't even care about that!
That's great! What island is the Sandals on in the Bahamas? I'm sure you'll figure it out and have a great, sober vacation. Although, that does sound weird.
The one we're going to is in Nassau, but they also have another one opening up 1/22 on Great Exuma. Like I said we're trying to keep the cost down and the new resort is out of the range we're willing to spend, plus we're trying to stay as close to the airport as possible. I've stayed in Paradise Island way back when I was 17 at a crappy AI for my senior week so I've been there and in Nassau, but, I don't remember too much about it. We're not really there long enough to wander off the resort too much.
Congrats on your baby moon! I changed my name on my passport in October and it look about 3 weeks. I did everything through the mail. Not sure if it's important to you, but they do send your old one back to you.
DH and I leave next week for our baby moon in Jamaica. We are staying for 5 days at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. I am so siked!! It will be interesting to be at an all inclusive and not be able to drink. DH (jokingly)said he was going to have me order all his drinks for him.
Heidi- have fun on your trip!
Ash- That's exactly what I'm planning on. I always remember seeing the "virgin" drink menu on the sign under the regular drink menu and wondered who used it. Now I plan on using it to the fullest. I'm getting my AI money's worth of non-alcoholic drinks!
Oh yeah, and if you want some info on what to do in Nassau - let me know! The Sandals there has it's own private island off the coast that looks sooo awesome. Plus there's a lot to do and really great restaurants.
