Good crockpot recipes?

Hello fabulous ladies!

Does anyone have any good/easy recipes for a crockpot dish?  We are having our monthly birthday luncheon at work next week.  Santa brought me one for xmas so I would love to break it in....

Thanks!

Kristina Wink

Re: Good crockpot recipes?

  • Oooh I have a MILLION! I have two whole cookbooks devoted to crockpot-ting... what type of dish are you interested in making? Dip, meat, veggies, dessert?

I'll have to send you the recipes tonight, I don't have them at work :(

  • OH OH! ME !!! I DO!!! Should we make a crock pot section on our FB Cookbook page?

    Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Easy-Slow-Cooker-French-Dip/Detail.aspx
(Add garlic/peppers to this to make it "italian beef")

    Chicken and Dumplings
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-and-Dumplings/Detail.aspx
(Yay for comfort food!!! Add a can of mixed veggies and note that it'll take the dumplings an HOUR to cook.)

    Chicken Stroganoff
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Stroganoff/Detail.aspx
(Substitute a tub of garlic/herb cheese spread (like Alouette) for the cream cheese.  Thawed chicken breasts will cook in 3 hours.  Be careful not to over cook.)

    Sauerbraten
    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/sauerbraten-recipe/index.html
(Yes, it takes three days to marinate, but it's OH SO GOOD.... IF you like sauerbraten.  Sauerbraten isn't for everyone.  Substitute 6tsp of gin if you can't find juniper berries.)

  • I should mention that I've brought the italian beef above to two or three office functions and people love it. It can get pricey, though.  Be sure to start it just before you go to bed the night before.
  • I'll take them all!  I don't want to spend a fortune because ya....just people I work with. :)  A meat or a side dish I could handle...maybe a chicken dish?  But i want to use this baby as much as I can so I'll take all of your fav. recipes!  Or just the names of the cookbooks!  Thanks chica!
  • YES YES a crock pot section would be FABULOUS!!!!  Thanks for the recipes Karen!  That italian beef sounds amazing!
  • I have a bunch too so let me know if you need more!

I have one for Mexican Chicken!  Very easy too:

Put two or three chicken breasts in the crockpot with a little bit of taco seasoning and a can of stewed tomatoes with chilies.  (I always taste the broth so the seasoning is just right).  Cook chicken for 6 hours on low.  Shred chicken as serve with tortillas to have as tacos!  I make rice and beans to serve with the tacos too!

Are you doing a 101 in 1001?  It can be one of your things to do! :)

I added a slow cooker section to the FB page.  I'll post some recipes tonight.  Please duplicate recipes - i.e., if the recipe you post is an entree, also post it on the entree Discussion Board.

  • I've made some recipes from this blog: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ and they've turned out really well.

She has tags, so you can easily find what you're looking for and most of them are pretty inexpensive.

And I'd definitely be interested in a crock-pot section of the FB group!

  • I have a bunch too...I LOVE my crock pot, its my favorite way to cook. I have really great (and easy) pulled pork recipe, pot roast recipe, black eyed peas recipe, etc. I will post later on the fb page!

We have great an easy pulled pork as well.

Pork loin (1 good sized loin makes about 3-4 sandwiches

1 591ml bottle of root beer

Put pork loin and root beer into slow cooker and cook on low x 7hours. Remove loin from cooker and drain for a few mins then put it in a bowl and shred it with 2 forks. Pour on your fave bottle of bbq sauce and mix to coat pork. Serve on toasted or untoasted hamburger buns.

Its so good, my sister who hates everything makes me make it everytime she vistis!

  • Root beer?  Fascinating.

    Post that one on FB!

  • What's the link for that page again?

  • Ok ladies, I put 3 of my favorites on the fb page. I make all of them for DH and I but we eat off of them for a little bit so they def. serve more than two. However, we are light eaters so I am not exactly sure how many each dish really serves...but they are all super easy, inexpensive, and delish!
  • Thanks ladies for your fabulous recipes!!!  Appreciate it!
